71F and sunny, going up to 80F, on this final day of August 2023. I stayed up too late last night, and slept in today until noon, but luckily there's nothing much going on here before work today.

Last night, when I was searching the cargo hold for my jack, I opened up a floor panel under the rug I've never seen before and discovered two old fashioned umbrellas in there!

It's significant, because earlier this month, I was thinking of buying myself an old fashioned umbrella... to use as a sound effect in the song, Never Rains... which is the next one I plan to record.

And that was because I decided to rework the lyrics of that whole song to simply be about having an umbrella.

See.. the refrain, "It never rains on me, if it ever rains on me." is really catchy and has to stay, but the rest of the lyrics never made much sense and were always only working lyrics.

Thinking about it, I decided that the only way it never rains on a person, if it ever rains on a person, is if they have an umbrella.

So, that is how, this month, the concept of a good old fashioned umbrella became synonymous with the ongoing effort to make a recording studio.

Little did I know that I already owned two such umbrella's because they were hidden in the car I bought last year.

And it took the flat tire at work for me to find out!

But that flat tire could not have been timed more conveniently... because I was able to make it to work and clock in... but then I also had a few hours of free time at work to deal with it, because of the PTA function.

So, I submit that the flat tire was a sign from the other side... perhaps Dad & Mom, and/or other ancestors who've lived in this house... that they approve of me turning Dad's room into a recording studio.

However, we can't forget that incident in early July when the speaker jack fried out and I went cross-eyed, right before sitting down to record vocals for Closer To You.

So... I think they approve, but also don't want me to make too much noise!

Like... "keep it in the headphones, most of the time, Pat... cuz we haunt this place, and we don't wanna have to listen to the same two measures playing over and over as you work out the cello part!"

But talk of the studio just punctuates what a transitional month this August has been!

For the first two weeks, I was still part time, enjoying my summmer... and the studio, and the repackaging of the old albums, was the big thing going on in my life.

Now I've been full time again for almost three weeks, school's back in session, I've got a big blue sheet of plywood sitting out on the porch, and I'm working up plans to make storm windows for the livingroom.

The Amazon orders reflect this weird transitional month too... with preservative and turnbuckles coming in at the same time as little parts for the soviet rotary phone mike, and a small fender amplifier.

Summer and fall projects mixing together.

I still don't know exactly what I'm gonna be doing over the three day weekend.

The forecast will not back down on that prediction of 90sF all three days.

But now I have a tire to get fixed, and put back on the car, in addition to everything else.

I'm hoping to take the tire to Adrian's, the shop right on the corner, on Saturday, to have them patch the tire and swap it back onto the wheel hub... if they're open.

But if I can do that, then I'm definitely not going to Home Depot that day to get stuff for the storm windows.

So, I'll either get some kind of a start on the hatch door, or... if it's just too hot, I'll probably be in that studio, stringing and tuning guitars.

Whatever happens, today is just a Thursday.

It's the last day of the month, but not of the week.

All I'm hoping for today, is to have a normal night at work without a water main break down the street, or a PTA function, or a flat tire.

Just a normal night to do my routine, and then return home.

Well, it was a normal night. Got everything done by 10:30PM.

Without Rosa around, I don't have to stretch out my work until the very end of the shift!

I get more done before lunch than I used to.

So after lunch things go a lot faster, and I have an hour to just relax.

My lawyer also called as I was driving in.

He said he talked to BMO but they said they can't discuss anything with him until they have some proof he really represents me.

Shouldn't he have seen that coming?

So now he's gonna prepare something for me to sign that shows he represents me in the matter.

I also had to point out to him that I'm the only person who accepted the grant of the house, in the acceptance affadavit.

He was surprised by that, but now thinks Colleen is probably off the hook, or at most would have to file a quit claim.

So basically, he hasn't done anything yet.

I'm too tired to focus on bills tonight, so I'm gonna try to get to bed early and take care of them in the morning.
