77F and sunny on this first day of Jack Clubs Week. All my epoxy patches are dry, and as soon as I'm done writing this, I'm gonna grab the sander from the basement and get going.

Unfortunately, the forecast is saying it will be 90F this coming Memorial Day weekend, for all three days!

If that holds true, I probably won't be swapping out the hatch door next weekend. But things a week out aren't always very accurate so... fingers crossed!

There's also zero rain in the foreseeable future, so I will be manually bubbling Natalie every third day for a while.

As for the things I ordered yesterday... I was wrong about them coming today. They're coming tomorrow... and I read that early this morning, when it was already today.

My eyes are turning to the problem of the missing storm windows for the living room. One had already been missing for years, and the other one fell off and broke back in June.

This will be a problem come winter.

I'm thinking it may be possible for me to build two new ones myself.

This sketch shows a frame made of 1X3, with a 1X4 center bar.

Overlaid on that, is a frame made of 1X2... which leaves a one inch interior bezel that I can glue plexiglass to. Then I go around the outside edges of the plexiglass with window glazing.

This shouldn't be that difficult to make, because I don't even need to meiter the corners. I can just but them up to each other and screw in from the sides.

They'd be held in place with turnbuckles, I guess... very low tech, but it works.

And if I flip them around, so that all you see from the street is the 1X3 frames, they'll look indestinguishable from professionally made storms!

I already have the paint for them... which I'm using for the hatch door. And even if I ran out, I know the color now... Boat House Blue... and have the swatch.

So, I could wash the outsides of the sash windows real good, and hit those frames with paint... then put on these storms, and presto!.. nice clear windows, and protection from rain and cold and heat!

And this project shouldn't be very expensive either.

So... as soon as I'm done with the hatch door, this is what's next on the list!

Okay!.. so I sanded the patches on all sides, and then applied more preservative to the top, because the sander had removed a bit of the top layer.

After things were dry, I measured and drilled my holes for the two eye bolts, as well as for the center hinge.

Yvette and I went out for a long walk at 6PM.

And when I got back I treated the holes with preservative using Q-tips.

Half an hour later, it was time to roll on the paint!

I got the top side and three of the edges.

And tomorrow I'll flip it over and get the underside.

So... I very much could install this door, this coming weekend, if it's not goddam 90F, like they're forecasting.

If it is... forget it!

But I can still fabricate the counterweights and get the unistrut hardware lined up.

So, there may be a delay on the actual install of HD2.0, but I do think, once I've taken care of the September bills, I will start in on the storm window project right away.

I can at least get the lumber needed over the weekend, and take measurements, etc.

And, if it is too hot to install HD2.0, I can spend my three day weekend in the studio, catching up on stuff in there.

Well, I've shaved & showered, and the laundry's in the washer.

Tomorrow starts the first full week of school.

Temperature should not be an issue this week, as the highs look to all be in the high 70sF, to low 80sF... and the lows are down in the 50sF, with Thursday possibly having a low of 48F.

September also begins on Friday!

So, I'll leave it at that for tonight, and put my clothes in the dryer.
