Friday Too Soon
Friday, August 11th, 2023 10:41 pmIt should be noted that I am returning to full time one week before the students actually return. So, the kids have a little more summer left than I do.
But I'm still very much experiencing the same, "back to school," dread that I did when I was a kid... and that they probably are.
I didn't feel this dread back in March, when I went from part to full time at the same school, so... it's just something about August, I guess.
That, and, I now know that building and the people in it a lot better than I did back in March.
Not only have I spent more time now at Cloud, than I did at Grape, before it... but over the summer I've had time to just chill in each of the classrooms... dusting and detailing them.
So the rooms don't seem strange and foreign to me, like they did when I was thrown into the middle of things last spring.
Lastly, it's also really sunk in, over the past several months, that this IS a school... and not just a generic workplace where I do routine tasks to earn money.
I am dreading, "back to school," and I'm also worried about how the pets will take it, when it becomes clear, next week... that we're doing what we did last spring, with me being gone until midnight... and it's not temporary.
------------{=0=}------------
I was up before 11AM today, and outside by 11:20. And the pets and I hung out in the back yard for almost an hour.
It was nice and shady, with a good breeze, and not too warm.
I spent the rest of the day going back and forth between mowing outside, and sitting here in the back room to cool off... working on the BandCamp upgrades to the album materials.
But early on, I opened the basement hatch to get the batteries for the mower and, right after I walked out into the yard with them, and rounded the house, I heard it...

The plywood finally failed... and the door came crashing down!

I was pretty damn lucky it didn't come down on my head!
It rained early this morning so... I think that was the final straw for the door.
So, the plan is to get my ass to Home Depot tomorrow to get a new sheet of pressure treated plywood... then come home and clear off the porch so I can set up to treat it with preservative out there.
------------{=0=}------------
The two guitar stands I ordered last night, arrived early this morning, along with some wire for my rotary phone mike element... that I ordered on E-bay.
The guitar stands are still in their boxes, because I was too busy with other stuff today, and that mike element has shipped, but isn't expected until the 28th!
I think the guitar strings and pics will come tomorrow.
So... stuff is piling up in the studio, waiting for me to get in there and sort it all out, but that probably won't happen on this break... thanks to the basement hatch door.
------------{=0=}------------
As far as the Bandcamp project goes...
All the songs have been converted to FLAC format, and I updated all the tags in those files, for genre, year, artist, etc.
All of the images for, Coffeehouse Boyfriend, Wig City, and, Lost Cause, have been upscaled to 1400 or greater square pixels.
I'm still in the process of upscaling the, Alb-O-Matic images... because, as you'll recall, those were all combinations of inset images, so... it's taking a little longer.
Everything's been uploaded for, Coffeehouse Boyfriend, but I'm keeping the album in draft mode, becasue I need to create a paypal account before I publish anything.
And if they'll let me, I'd like to upload all four albums in draft mode first, before pushing the publish button on each one individually.

So that's where I'm at on my Friday night.
Can't believe three days of my five day weekend are over so fast!
