Sunny Friday

snoozefestaudioWell, so much for four rainy days in a row! Yesterday only stayed cloudy until 5PM, and we never got a drop of rain.
Today, sunny, going up to 90F, with a 40% chance of rain after 5PM... that I don't think will materialize.
And now it's saying the whole weekend will be sunny.

I made a little more progress in the studio last night, with that trolley sequence.
I took the bass line back to just quarter notes on the beat, and it wasn't helping much.
But that's when I realized the piano needed to drop down an octave and take the bass' place at the bottom.
I then brought the bass up an octave to just do a slight reinforcement of the guitar.
Suddenly everything was a lot more clear, and the feel of being on a trolley started to materialize.
I tried using bass flutes for the horn, but that's still probematic.
I'm sure I can get this all to work, but... it is, awake with coffee, work, now.
Not, drinking after work, work.

I'm starting to realize... this is not recording. It's just, scoring.
Or, more accurately, it's what the software calls it... programming a piano roll... for a fancy electronic player piano that can mimic the voices of other instruments.
And that's fine. There are advantages to doing it this way.
But it's not a, having fun at night, drunk, activity... the way punching in with a foot pedal and playing actual instruments used to be.
It's a... fresh in the morning with coffee, on a day off, activity.
And that includes singing the vocals.
At my age, singing drunk is... absolutely not fooling anybody.
And that's all fine... I'm happy to have this be a sober, coffee project going forward.
But, I'm pretty sure that bars Brian from ever following suit.

It's probably not wise to post any of this on Facebook and trigger him. It's not worth the 15 plays I'll get out of it.
The current track on SoundCloud is up to 179 plays, and those will go up when I replace it with a better version, and actually put it in my spotlight section.
At the end of the day, we're still talking only a few hundred plays... which is nothing in the grand scheme.
But I'd rather get those few hundred on my own... than try to get 15 out of old friends and family on Facebook, and trigger Mr. Attention Beast in the process.
