So, yesterday I did get stoned, after running for beer and smokes. And then I worked on the song the rest of the afternoon.

Then around 7PM I went out back and mowed the lawn... which took an hour, because it was so thick, and kept bogging down the mower.

But it's looking fabulous now!

And then we did get rain overnight, and through the morning.

So, that was fabulous too!

I also worked on writing lyrics last night, and more or less, finally nailed them!

And once I did, I realized that the two measures of normal verse music between two instances of the bridge, did not need any lyrics.

Those two measures were perfect for a musical interlude... where a normal band would've stuck a guitar solo.

But I wasn't gonna do a guitar solo, so I started working on... just a good instrumental interlude... which kept me up until 5AM.

Though, I did talk to Tim for a couple hours in there.

Today I slept in until almost 3PM.

I didn't have to leave for anything, and Yvette and I didn't go out for more than a few minutes, a couple times, because people have been blowing up fireworks all day and night, and she doesn't like that.

So I've spent the entire afternoon in the studio (But I'm in the back room now).

I perfected those two measures of musical interlude, and then I started working on one last part that comes a bit later in the song.

Again, this was two measures between two runs of the refrain, and I put in this nice, cinematic build of horns and stuff.

Other than a few tweaks, the music is now done!

And I'm VERY happy with how this song is turning out, both musically, and lyrically!

I've never been able to sit there and program musical instruments before, like this.

It's SO much easier!.. because the tonic is, C, but there were several parts I decided I should be hitting C# (C sharp) for some spice... and it was a simple matter to just go to every instrument playing at those moments, and bump the C up to a C#.

Back in the olden tymes, I would've had to go back and re-record all those parts by punching in live with a foot pedal, and praying I didn't screw up!

I'll probably try to get some vocals on it tomorrow, and depending on how that goes, I may have something to post on SoundCloud, and embed here, soon.

Because I'm so new to this, I'm deliberately keeping the music on this one, kind of robotic... no attempts to slide notes or do flourishes or anything.

Everythings very, on the beat, with space to breathe, and nothing's stepping on anything else.

And I'm keeping it tight, in terms of time, as well.

It's about three minutes, and eight seconds.

Everythings arranged to keep it interesting, with the first hook coming just before 30 seconds, and the bridge, right at 1 minute, etc.

Recording new music was not on my Bingo card for 2023, so it's been a pretty novel weekend so far.

Not sure what I'll do with the rest of my night, but I should probably eat something.
