83F and sunny, same as always, but supposedly we'll be getting some rain on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
Now that this is only a couple days away, I'm more inclined to believe it. But if we do get even light rain, on and off, for two or three days, it's gonna help the grass in back tremendously!
I got to thinking this morning that I was wedging one board between two others and driving it downward with a mallet, where it was too narrow to fit, so that could have been enough force to pop the corner brick loose.
A wedge is a simple machine after all.
Also, where it broke loose was the final spot that I mortared, so the mortar was getting drier, and it was difficult to get it into that final gap.
So, either way, a test fire is a good idea, but if it doesn't weaken the bonds, and the firepit's still sound afterward, then I'll re-mortar that corner brick and proceed with the cap in some way, shape, or form.

As for the recording software, I talked to Tim last night, and... he'd talked to his son, Frankie, who does this kind of thing, and Frankie also just adds vocals in Audacity, as I'd been thinking to do.
So, this weekend, I will go ahead and get Fruity Edition installed, if possible, and proceed from there, just learning how to create drums and music with it.
Then, if and when I get to the point where I'm ready to add vocals, I'll do it in Audacity.
I'm in no rush with recording, but it's also true that things are slowing down right now, out in the yard.
It's a combination of... way too hot for most things... and also, waiting for grass to grow, with no assistance from the rain.
And it's the grass seed mat over the barbecue site that's slowing me down, because those mats just take forever to fully dissolve and fill in all the way!
But until it's, "done," I can't move that sprinkler.

6:32PM
Not a bad Friday at Cloud. I got the windows and screens done in 205.
I spent the shift working out lyrics for, "Closer To You," which was found on one of those tapes from 1996.
And I was able to sing it to myself, because I was alone in the building.
--<>--
Now I'm home and just waiting for the sun to get low.
It's 85F right now, but it's gonna drop to 70F by 10:00, on it's way down to a low in the 60sF, past midnight.
8:01PM
Okay, I ripped up six grocery bags worth of paper, and crumpled it all into little balls at the bottom of the pit. Then I put wood chips and kindling over that, and I have a big hunk of tree stump waiting to throw in.
I've got a can with a bag, table & chair, ash tray, flash light, wheelbarrow & gloves, and even a can of incense I found that belonged to Dad.
I'm still inside, charging up a battery pack for the phone, and also charging the phone up... waiting until it's closer to dark.
Sunset's at 8:33PM, but dusk lasts until 9:03PM.
Maybe 30 more minutes and I'll light her up!
