June Full Moon
Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 04:20 pm88F out there this afternoon, and sunny. Brian called at 2:30AM and I was still up so we talked until 4:30.
I slept in until almost 3PM today, and since then, I've just been drinking my coffee here in the back room, waiting for the wifi repeater to come online and stabilize.

Last week, I moved peter down a few plugs on the strip, to get him directly behind the fan.
So now, with the fan on high, and the AC on in the kitchen and back room, Peter actually stays on all day without overheating... or maybe gets auto rebooted once.
I also keep the whole setup off at night when I'm sleeping.
But that means, when I turn it back on, it always takes 20 to 25 minutes for the wifi to stabilize back here and let me actually get online.

I got started around 5:30, busting out the wheel barrow and the shovels and so forth.
I took some time to rake out a few ruts and cut down the grass growing out of them, but... it became clear pretty quick, all that fuss wasn't really necessary.
It was more important to just get the dirt in there and map out the vast area of ruts that I'm actually dealing with.
So this evening was about mapping out the worst area... but this is just the start.

I didn't get the puppy outside until 7PM, when the sun was low enough that it wasn't offensively hot... but I did okay with my wheel barrow trips back and forth, and my shoveling of dirt into, and out of it.

This is the area I got filled in pretty well this evening... again, the worst ruts.
But I won't start seeding or matting until this stuff settles in... and is topped off... and all the other ruts in this region are also filled in and topped off.

This perspective from the other end shows you how deceptive the perspective can be in a space this large, so low to the ground.
Also here, I soaked all this dirt with the hose to help it settle in.

Then I manually bubbled Natalie, and watered the barbecue mat.
Now I'm on the phone with Tim and Sheila at the same time!

Okay, I'm off the phone with Tim and Sheila.
That's the second, Saturday night, two-sibling conference call I've done! I need to make this a regular thing on Saturday nights!
--<>--
As for the first day of rut patching, it went pretty well, considering the late start I got, because of the heat.
I am thinking again, that whole pile of topsoil's gonna get swallowed up before all the ruts and low spots are filled, but that's fine.
Hopefully, with extra time soon... as a part timer for the summer, I'll get the whole, five cubic yards, deployed and packed down in a week or two.
But only after all the topsoil's been deployed, and packed down, will I seed it and set up the sprinkler.

On the cat front... just last night and tonight... I could swear that I've found Prowly on the kitchen table, eating moist cat food... without having come in the cat door, here by the back door!
From where I sit at this computer, in the back room... that back door cat door is plainly in view at all times, and I see who goes in and out.
So... he's appearing in the kitchen to eat, without coming in the cat door... and he's also vanishing from the house... without going out the cat door!
Soo... I think its, possible that Prowly's figured out how to use the cat ladder to get up on the roof and come in through the upstairs cat door!
This is just speculation, mind you!.. but... I was not seeing this kind of thing before!
And this is what I'd expect to see, if Prowly was, indeed, using the upstairs cat door to enter the house!
Let it be noted, this third night of June!
