38F and sunny this morning with a few breezes. Snow is gone. Saw the first tiny bluebells out in the back yard. Buds on the ash tree back there are coming to life. Also daffodil shoots coming up by the front stoop.

Outside with the pets by 11:20.

Total backslide since monday: 13 minutes. Feels acceptable.

The garbage and recycle trucks came and I got the bins straight back into the dog yard.

Not sure what today is gonna be about.

My feet were really giving me some grief at work last night, which now seems typical for a Tuesday? No word on the mid-shift position.

12:10AM

Right before I got to work, my phone played the Ring doorbell chime, so I booted the app, just in time to see a Fed Ex truck driving away.

I was not expecting a package, and the footage showed a guy delivering an overnight envelope! Oh oh! Was it some kind of bad news?

A summons to appear in court for missing jury duty? The bank foreclosing on the house because I forgot to tell them Dad died?

I worried about it on and off all shift.

My feet were all over the map tonight.

Fine at first... problematic closer to lunch. Really good after lunch to the point I forgot about them. Then problematic again with occasional shooting pains later in the evening.

I was also sleepy at the end of the shift! Normally I'm never sleepy, but I was having trouble keeping my eyes open those last five minutes.

I'm gonna blame them both on Daylight Savings Time.

It's just an hour, but it's true what they say about that hour fucking with your body for the first whole week.

It struck me tonight that all my lamp timers in the house were set to standard time, and never got shifted.

So, if it's true that last week the pets all learned the lamp sequences to figure out when I'd be back home... then from their perspective, I just started getting up an hour earlier this week, and am coming home an hour earlier.

Of course, that's exactly the truth!

But maybe they think I did it for their sake, so I wouldn't be gone so late at night!

Got home, and after walking Yvette, it was time to face the music with the mysterious Fed Ex letter... addressed to Dad!

Turns out was from one of his credit cards!

Hahahah! XD

Overnight all the guilt trippy letters you want, Shop Your Way!.. You ain't gettin' any money out of a dead man!

------------{=0=}------------

I heard nothing about the mid-shift job today.

Thought about calling Tony, but... I figure, I'll let fate handle it.

There are pros and cons to both my current shift at Cloud, and a mid-shift gig at Aquadale.

I don't wanna piss off the junebugs!

Remember that?

I was thinking about Junebug Luck today.

0--------------------0

"When you come to the Junebugs for help... they will help you... but they will do it THEIR way!.. and it will be chaotic!.. and you will pay some kind of price!"

0--------------------0

I rubbed a junebug in May of last year, 2022, because I was out of money, and the economy was too shit for my handyman business to fly.

And things did start to happen. I mean, Snoop & Prowly appeared out of nowhere, and then the Geostaff gig fell into my lap. I figured it was the start of things getting better, and that they'd continue to improve.

But this was the third time I'd gone to the Junebugs.

The second time, things had gotten a lot better, yes, but not without my Mom dying!

In the above linked entry from last fall, I am reasoning that the price this third time around is probably not gonna be Dad dying!

I reason that the price was mainly the mulberry falling down and me having to cut it up by myself... along with some other BS like Dad's close call in August.

But today at work, that came back to me and I thought, Well!.. NOPE!.. That was only the beginning of some MAJOR fucking chaos for the rest of the fall and winter!

And sure enough, Dad DID die!

I KILLED BOTH MY PARENTS WITH JUNEBUG MAGIC!

--<>--

They were both such devout Christians too!.. I guess Amen Ra was the way to go the whole time!

But seriously... May was when Dad & I went to BMO to try for a consolidation loan to merge the mortgage payments and pay off his credit card debt. And some of the extra was gonna go to cut down the mulberry that later fell!

BMO turned us down because of Dad's trashed credit score, but the two things that came out of it were; 1) I became a signatory on his bank accounts, and 2) We stopped paying his credit cards a dime.

Those two moves would prove to be great calls!

In retrospect, it would've been a CRIME for him to keep blowing $500.00 a month on card debt so close to the end of his life!

And had I not become a signatory... oh my god! His accounts would've been frozen, and there would've been no way to access that final pension check, or pay the mortgage!

After that, I had my little shoestring vacation from reality for June and July, which is where this blog began... but then in August, it was full steam ahead!

Here's two cats, get a job!

Buy your Dad some time at the hospital to get established at the job!

This tree is garbage! Deal with it!

Congratulations, you bought your Dad one last good Halloween, and Thanksgiving!

BUT CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR ARE NOT GONNA BE FUN!

Now here I am at the start of spring. Dad's gone, but the house is mine.

I'd rather not have been stuck with Yvette, especially living here alone and working so late at night. BUT...

I'm thinking it might be pushing my luck to force my own change on those conditions... such as putting Yvette to sleep before her time, or trying to jump to mid-shift at Aquadale, if it's not in the cards!

These junebugs do NOT mess around!

You rub those wings, you give them the WHEEL! It's not about what you want anymore, it's about what they deem is best for you!

So... as I recouperate from Daylight Saving Time another day... I'm just gonna continue to go with the flow, and be happy that things, so far, have worked out as well as they have!

And we'll see where we're at in May.
