Cold morning!.. 31F! Overcast, but not as dark as the weekend was. Still patches of snow here and there. Feels more wintery than most of the winter has.

I'm happy to report that I was standing in the back yard with the pets and a cup of coffee at the new 11:07AM!

So, we're off to a great start in Daylight Savings Time, but... gotta be careful not to relapse tomorrow or later this week.

Not a single text all night from the rebooter!.. and when I got down into the kitchen, the repeater was still happy, with it's green LEDs.

The puppy was also in a better mood than she's been when I come down in the morning. Last week she'd seemed a bit distressed each day. But last night I'd left the ceiling fan lights on for her, and she also had the white noise of the repeater fan.

I have those sconce lamps turning off at dawn, but it's been so gloomy that it was always dark in the kitchen when I got downstairs. I think that was bothering her. And she was also used to dad running a fan when he was sleeping.

So, this week I'm just leaving the ceiling fan lights on 24/7, along with the repeater fan... because it's clearly working.

That setup cannot be permanent, but I'll need to mull it over for a week or two, to come up with the right solution.

New shoes are coming today, but probably won't get here before I leave for work.

I should be either making an appointment with a notary at the library, or looking into that personal loan, on this Monday morning, but... I feel like I just need one normal day to start the week.

12:00AM

Well, the new shoes actually DID get here before I left, so I put the new orthodics into them and wore them to work.

Lucky thing I did, because Jeremy pointed out that there were still two short hallways that are part of my area, that I hadn't been doing... and that I'm supposed to be vacuuming the vestibules, not just the hallways.

So catching up on those brought my step count up to 17,000 steps today. I checked further in the app and... that's EIGHT MILES!

Now, you might expect that, wearing brand new shoes with brand new orthodics would've been a terrible idea, but... I got my feet measured for a certain style of Sketchers years ago, and also for Dr. Sholls orthodics.

So I've just reordered the same shoes and orthodics for years on Amazon... just go into my past orders and buy them again!

So there's not a lot of breaking in to do, and my feet did pretty well today... though I couldn't have done much MORE than the 17K steps.

The other big news today was that I just so happened to notice we have job listings on our bulletin board in the custodial office... and decided to take a look!

Turns out that Geostaff has MID-SHIFT openings, at Aquadale High School!

10:30AM to 7:00PM!

NOBODY offers mid-shift! I couldn't believe it!

But they have eight openings at Aquadale, which is the same distance from home as Grape, or Cloud... about nine miles!

So THAT is definitely on my to-do list for tomorrow!

It would be GREAT to leave home at 10AM and get back by 7:30! Better for Yvette, and better from a security standpoint!

Yvette's not good at the noctournal lifestyle. So, if I was leaving at 10:AM, that means we'd be doing our morning walk at 7AM... which is perfect for a morning doggy!

She'd be alone the same span of time as now, but... during the daylight hours, which I think she could handle better.

Meanwhile, my driveway is only empty during the mid-day and early evening, which means less worry of a break-in!

Also, I'm home in time to close the blinds at night, and then reopen them the next morning... which has been an issue lately.

They need to be open to get some sunlight in the house for the pets (mostly for Yvette) so I kinda have to leave them open all the time, because I'm sleeping until well after sunrise... but I'm leaving here way before sunset!

And this would be fine for the Snoozefest recordings too, because in August, the sun's not setting until after 8PM! I can still record cicadas at sundown! And then I have hours after dark to record the crickets!

Being awake from 7AM is also better for stuff like, going to see doctors and dentists, or being home for the tree guys... who I'm sure will start at the crack of dawn.

And things will still be open for me to run errands on the way home... which currently they are not!

Mid-shift's the way to go, man!

I'll be an in-house applicant, so... if they're looking for eight people, I'm a shoe-in!

Geostaff has been understaffed since before I got hired last summer. They rely heavily on floaters who are willing to do 12 to 16 hour shifts, covering this school and that one until they can train up new hires... who are hard to find!

If they need eight people, and I'm all trained up with six months under my belt? Aquadale's gonna take me immediately!

And, no offense to Grape or Cloud, but... I'm kinda done with the elementary school experience!

It was novel and charming for a while, but... I have grown kinda weary of seeing Dr. Seuss and Sesame Street characters everywhere I look.

So, I'm calling first thing in the morning, and with any luck... I could be doing midshift at Aquadale before March is out!
