Presidents Day
Monday, February 20th, 2023 11:58 pmI stayed up until almost 5AM but Prowly did not come back inside. I finally crashed and wasn't up again until 2PM.
At that time, I did take Yvette out for a walk, and as soon as we got out the door, there was Prowly, calling to us, and coming to hang around with us.
He was not in any alarm, he seemed perfectly happy to still be outside... not like he'd gotten stuck out there all night, and was desperate to get back inside, or anything.
He seems to have stuck close to home all night, and made a friend of some strange calico cat, who was roaming around in the back yards with him while Yvette and I were back there.
I'm calling this new friend, Toasty Cat.
But later on in the day, once I was back inside, talking with Tim at the kitchen table, Prowly did finally come back inside and have something to eat upstiars. After that he was in and out the rest of the evening.
Snoop, meanwhile, only hung out on the roof today, but never went to the ground. He's been out on the roof a lot, as well as down in the house and the basement... but doesn't seem interested in the yard right now.

Things get tense between Snoop and Prowly whenever they're in the same room. The once, inseparable kitten brothers, now act like strangers to one another.
I'm sure part of that is puberty... but it also may be exacerbated by all the rapid changes that have been going on around here since they first came downstairs before Dad died.
------------{=0=}------------
Tim went ahead and tore out the carpet in the hallway, even though I said yesterday that we should't start on that until all the staples were pulled out of the living room floor, where we removed carpet and padding yesterday.
I ran for groceries when he began on the hallway, and by the time I was back, he'd left the roll of carpet in the kitchen... not bound by duck tape yet, and had a huge pile of demo debris in the hall, where he'd pried up all the floor tiles beneath the carpet, and was busy trying to get up the ancient linoleum beneath that!
Once again, his quest to find perfect wood floors in our shitty old house lead to disappointment, because the hallway floor looks as shit as the living room... only the linoleum is extremely stubborn and does not want to come up!
Helping with the linoleum, I complained that... this was supposed to be my three day WEEKEND, not my three day WORK CAMP!
As I've said before, for Tim, this has been a big vacation. But meanwhile... I have not had a single whole day to myself to just relax... in three months!
I really wanted to just focus on the cats this weekend, and Tim had started a project last week sorting out stuff from an old cabinet in the basement.
I was hoping he'd finish that project this weekend, but all he did was make piles of crap all over my shop floor and in Dad's room... make me buy him a bunch of storage bins he hasn't used yet... and then he launched into creating a ton of demo debris this weekend by tearing up the floors, because he wanted to see beautiful hidden wood flooring!
Now we have a crap ton of carpet rolls, bags of padding, bags of tile and other demo waste, and other shit from the living room, to throw away tomorrow... so I'll be back to buying another 12 garbage stickers!
