Surprised to look out the window, upon waking up this morning, and see an inch of snow in the grass, and on the rooftops, with the pavement still clear.

As I walked Yvette, there was a flurry of snow in the air, while house gutters dribbled with running water.

Dad got a visit from a nurse today, who took his vitals, and they were all good. Normal blood pressure and temperature, etc.

I cleaned all the wall hangings from the back room, with sani-wipes, in the kitchen, while periodically visiting with Dad, and drying some laundry from yesterday.

A lay minister from Dad's parish called to say she, and other of his collegues would be out to see him on Saturdays, from here on out, at 5:30PM, to give him the eucharist.

I asked her if she could bring a second person this Saturday so that they could witness him signing the Transfer Upon Death document, and... she kinda freaked out and said they don't do that.

Sue the social worker yesterday, had said hospice workers don't do that... even though she'd witnessed the power of attorney papers herself, and had told me to ask the lay ministers instead.

So... it became clear that I needed to consult a mobile notary.

I didn't even know there existed such a thing as a mobile notary until a few weeks ago, but I finally called one today and lined up a visit on Saturday, at 11AM.

A notary will come, together with a second witness. The notary is $50.00, and the second witness is an extra $25.00, but I paid the money, and they will be here Saturday morning so that Dad can sign the Transfer Upon Death Instrument, and it can be witnessed and notarized.

After that, it needs to be filed with the County Recorder of Deeds, for another $65.00, and... then we'll have a legal document reflecting Dad's current wishes.

Colleen drew up the TUDI, and tonight we went over it again, to make sure we had all the information right, about the ID numbers of the property.

My brother Kevin will then, hopefully, be able to use the notarized and registered TUDI as a wedge to get my name on the deed, with the bank, even before Dad passes.

The whole goal here, is to make sure that after Dad dies, I can simply continue to pay off what's left of his mortgage, and own the house outright when it's done... without things drifting into a legal limbo that the bank could use to either claim the property, or force me to start a new mortgage from scratch!

The big concern today was... will dad still be alert and capable of signing a document on Saturday?

Because he'd run out of the, "Liquid IV," powder my sisters had sent on Christmas, that made such a huge difference with him.

After running out of it, today he expressed little interest in drinking Gatorade, or any other drink, other than plain water. And had already started to get dehydrated again, and a bit spacey!

But Colleen arranged for a local shopper to deliver us some more this evening, so he's got some now, and hopefully he'll continue to drink it through tomorrow and Saturday, and stay alive and focused enough for the TUDI, and for Tim's arrival later that night!

I know how crazy it sounds, that things have come down to this situation where Dad's fading fast, and only a powder mix stands between him signing a document on Saturday and me continuing to live here...

Or him, half-conscious on Saturday, and me going to live in a homeless shelter... but... this is where we are!

The garbage men did take all the crap on the parking today... the mattress & box springs, the comfy chair, the seven extra bags of hoarder papers...

And literally, as the garbage trucks were pulling away, the Amazon truck pulled in and delivered several packages for the guest room!

I was standing outside, witnessing this, and had a little moment, thinking, Wait! I orchestrated this myself! I got all that junk out here and paid for the stickers, and I paid for all these new packages, and I timed it all to happen on this Thursday morning!

I've kind of been operating on auto-pilot for weeks now, and Colleen and Sheila have stepped in to do a lot, but... somehow, this perfectly timed little moment was all my doing!

Maybe I am gonna make it through this!

I made a little progress cleaning the back room walls.

Enough to see that the spatula works... but that it's gonna take some real elbow grease to get all the dirt off! It's gonna be some cardio!

Still, between tomorrow and Saturday, there will be time to clean the room, get the furniture arranged, and rehang the pictures, before Tim arrives in his Uber at 11PM.

And with any luck, by that point, the TUDI will be signed and notarized, and Dad will have had Holy Communion.

But... Tomorrow is it's own day, before Saturday can happen, and everything could go sidways in an instant, so...

Wish me luck!
