Joker Day 2022
Saturday, December 17th, 2022 11:59 pmToday was Joker Day, on the playing card perpetual calendar. King of Diamonds week ended on the 16th, and Ace of Spades week... the week in which the December Solstice will always fall, begins on the 18th. The Joker is there to cover December 17th, specifically.

So, it being a Saturday... and Saturday being my mental health day during this December crisis with Dad's hip injury... I had a pretty good day! I made sure to get everything I'd need last night, so that I did not have to leave the house at all today.
--<>--
I slept in until 1PM... and then took Yvette for a good long walk around the neighborhood. It's been snowing flurries for several days so, there's a good inch on the ground out there, which she likes.
--<>--
My gloves aren't cutting it in this cold, however, because my fingertips always hurt, long before she's ready to come in. So... I think I need to invest in some mittens!
--<>--
After her walk, I went upstairs to hang with the cats, and work on Seven Hearts for about three hours, drinking my coffee. But just as the sun was setting, I got myself back downstairs to vacuum the hell out of the place.
--<>--
Yvette sheds a lot, so... it was needed.
--<>--
After that, another walk with the dog, and then back upstairs again to work some more on the calendar card... now, cracking the night's first beer.
--<>--
I worked on the card for another three hours, sipping my beers, as the cats took their turns in my lap to be pet.
--<>--
Long about 10PM I went downstairs to take Yvette for a late night walk, and when we got back inside, my brother Tim called... from Nevada, where it was only 8PM. And I stayed downstairs another hour to keep the dog company while talking to him.
--<>--
That conversation lasted until midnight, by which time I was back upstairs here, with the cats again... and had come to a final stopping point on the calendar card.

With everything as intense as it's been this month, it was truly glorious to just have this one day where I never left the house!
Last Saturday, I kinda failed at that. Due to poor planning I had to run a few errands and, while I was out I decided to play Pokemon Go, because there was an event going on.
But I didn't really have time to complete the research tasks in the game, so I ended up wasting over an hour out there driving around town for no real reason.
Today was a lot better!.. The animals all got some real attention, and I completely turned my brain off to the crisis that's been going on. Just... willfully forgot all about it and relaxed.
Tomorrow begins a new week... and a whole new year, on the perpetual calendar of the playing cards. But as I write, I remain relaxed... refusing to worry about what's to come.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof... as they say.
And I think that's the spirit of Joker Day.

The Seven of Hearts is not done, but it's close, tonight! I may just have it done by tomorrow night!

This has definitely been the most challenging card so far!
I have to keep reminding myself, this is just the first draft of the deck!
