Week One Overview

snoozefestaudioSo, I started this blog last Tuesday, and now it's Monday night.
In the two weeks prior to the creation of this blog I'd been doing a lot of maintenance at the four-year-old SoundCloud account.
I created Jun Thunder Jove out of material from last year and added it to the thunder playist. I added Cricketober to the 2021 playlist, tweaked the order of that list, and added missing graphics.
I reworked the nomenclature of the playlists, from, "Snoozefest Season X," to "Snoozefest [year]," and created new cover art to reflect that... while deleting the 2019 playlist entirely... because it was only two lame tracks anyway.
After everything was done, I finally added hash tags to everything!
And then I created this blog, with it's embeds, and started doing some new tests and uploading a couple new short tracks.
And a week later... I've had nine plays, seven likes, and one repost!
That might sound like nothing to you, but... compared to zero, zero, and zero for months and years at a time, that's huge progress!

I've also linked my TikTok bio there, and am in the process of shifting the focus of my content to being about Snoozefest and ambient field recording.
That's gonna take some time, but the big idea is just to use the different platforms to build up hype over July, for the big cricket season in August and September.
There's always a big bump at that time of year, and I'm hoping to make it bigger in 2022... and then build on that with wind chimes, and dials, through the fall and winter.

It might look like it's taken me four years to get serious... but really, it took me two years to get serious, and then two more, to figure out how to do this right!
Over 2020 & 2021, I not only fought to get the yard back in shape, but I had to build all the... digital infrastructure... the templates for the text and graphics. The filing system for the different types of audio, graphical, and text files. The discipline to use those systems.
There's also been learning curves, with Audacity, and the S8... and key chimes!
And I'm still working to rank up on all those curves, as well as the SEO learning curve.

I'm hoping 2022 will be the breakthrough year, where I finally find a real audience.
So... it is encouraging to see nine plays, seven likes, and one repost in this first week that I've really been going for that.

The S8 is out there recording right now, on another quiet, windless night. I'm hoping to get those A/C fan profiles to use in noise elimation down the road.
And later in the week, The Amtrack guys are gonna be doing their weekly inspections at the train yard, so hopefully I can get a clean profile of that!.. the monotonous wash of idling deisel engines for hours at a time.
Having the power to eliminate, or at least mitigate that, in future cricket recordings will be priceless!
I'd love to be adventuring about during the day, looking for new Dial material, but sadly, my car is in the shop right now, and we're in the middle of a heat wave so... I'm kinda home bound.
