64F and clear tonight.

I got a good start last night on comping the, Reavis, re-sing.

Then today, after running my Sunday errands, I managed to finish the comp before 7PM, which is always shave, shower, and laundry time.

I am so happy with the final result!.. and so glad that I dedicated a full session to recording 11 full vocal takes, plus five extra takes of just the final, climactic phrase, "and leaving me ALONE with the English teacher!"

I pulled from all 11 of those re-sing takes for the comp, and the magic ending came from the second to last of the extra takes! All fifteen other attempts of that final phrase, were garbage!

But the result made me tear up all over again!

Back in April, I teared up for the first comp of this song, back when comping was still a proof of concept, and I was just overwhelmed to hear myself singing a half-decent version of it.

But this re-sing REALLY does it justice! It IS the voice of that 20-year-old from 1990, all innocent and a bit breathless about things.

I checked my journal today and confirmed that it was one year ago today that I first began to piano-roll, Reavis 309, having only just recalled that I'd ever written the song, thanks to the building automation system at work telling me that room 309 was too hot!

One year later, I've got the journal with all the context for the song, and I finally comped the perfect vocal!

Very happy!.. and now it's ready for harmonies this coming Saturday (just booked the session).

But then!.. while the laundry was going, I decided to work on the patch job for, Magic Monday, and got that done too!

That turned out to be an unintended re-sing, because rather than just sing the few phrases I wanted to patch in, I sang two full takes of the song in one session, and added two more in a second session.

So I comped these four new takes into a near, perfect re-sing.

And then the patching was just a few bits from the original comp, that were slightly better executed than this re-sing.

Magic Monday, was another I'd done early on in June, when my voice was still not yet fully back, so it really has benefitted from this, "patch," tonight.

And this is a second song to record harmonies for, next Saturday.

What this means is that on Friday, it should be easy to do the patches to, Tuesday Siren, and, Live It Fast in the same day!

This doesn't just give me four new songs for Saturday, it completes the songs that need harmonies, meaning between this coming session and the next, on SAT OCT 11, I could be DONE with all vocals!

And there are only two other main-vocal songs to comp!.. Archeology, and, Never Rains... neither of which have harmonies.

So I can comp one of them this coming weekend, and the other on the weekend of the 11th & 12th.

This means that by the weekend of SAT OCT 18th, I can begin comping the harmonies!

And so, when Halloween vacation begins on SAT OCT 25, I'll be finishing the harmony comps in the first couple days of it... and then it's full steam ahead on mixing for a good seven vacation days!

Okay, that's the update for this final Sunday night of September.

October's coming into focus, and things are looking good!
