37F and cloudy today.

Yesterday afternoon it was looking like I might be in for more horrendous bullshit.

I wrote that my law firm's receptionist had send me a billing form I'd already filled out and signed weeks ago, so I sent it back explaining to, "Cheryl," that she already had the form in PDF format.

A couple hours later I got a reply from Rachel, explaining that Cheryl was no longer with the firm, and that she, Rachel, was the new receptionist.

She said that they still needed my checking account number, so that they could bill the monthly $300.00 fee, and mine was past due, so they needed it right away!

I wrote back saying, "Can't you just charge the monthly $300.00 to the AmEx you have on file? Because my checking account often doesn't have $300.00 in it."

But it was 5PM by then, so I had to spend the rest of the night worrying that Rachel would write back today saying, No, it's impossible to charge the monthly fee to a credit card! It has to be your checking account!

And then I'd have to beg Colleen & Sheila for $300.00 to pay the lawyer... and then they'd say, Okay, but we can't do this every month, Pat!.. you have to figure out a way to pay for this yourself!

And then some mysterious, Digital Dad Demon, would come along and steal the $300.00 my sisters Zelled me.

And then my lawyer wouldn't get the money and they'd drop me, and I'd be forced to go to BMO on hands and knees for mercy, and they'd say, Sorry! Too late!

And I'd have to sell the house and go live in a trailer park!

Thankfully, I woke up today to find, in my email, a receipt from Bantam & Associates for $300.00 paid in full, and charged to my AmEx!

WHEW!

You might think it was silly of me to worry so much, but... that kind of ridiculous bullshit is why I'm even in this situation where I need a lawyer right now!

There was also a new voicemail this morning, and I was worried that, THAT, was gonna be bad news, but it turned out to be some kind of butt-dial wrong number with a mexican toddler in the background.

Again... WHEW!

So today is as it should be... just another Thursday.
