38F tonight and holding, with rain.
So, on Tuesday at work, I got lucky, because Tom had come in early and was gone by 5PM, and it was a bit slow.
So around 7PM, I pulled the RAV4 into Bay 1 of the auto shop, and cleaned the, Mass Airflow sensor myself!
Turns out it's right up top near the air filter, and easy to remove, and spray with the cleaner I'd bought at AutoZone back on Saturday.
And right after I opened the hood, I saw that an air line coming off the engine manifold was disconnected from the rest of the air system!
It was easy to plug that back into place, but now I knew what had happened!
When I took the car to JiffyLube, they forgot to plug that airline back into place!.. and thus, about four miles later, enough dirt had gotten into the system to put the, Mass Airflow sensor into alarm!
And I still think it had something to do with why the car started saying it was in 4 Wheel Drive... though I don't know exactly how that would've happened!
But when I got the code read at AutoZone, he said it wasn't just the MAF, but also corroded battery terminals... which I could see while I had the hood up... mainly on the positive terminal clamp.
So I ordered a new clamp from Amazon right then and there, in the auto shop, before taking my car back around to it's parking space.
The battery clamp was delivered yesterday, to the wrong building, so I didn't see it in our mailroom until today.
So, the plan is to disconnect both battery cables, clean the terminals, and replace the positive clamp... Saturday, if possible.
Having the battery disconnected for over 20 minutes should also clear the engine light, if everything's truly okay with the car, after I reboot the system.
I'm hoping that will also take it out of 4WD!
Because there's a button on my dash to put it into 4WD, but the car's not responding to that button... and it's supposed to automatically switch back to 2WD once I get over 30MPH, which it hasn't done.
I'm thinking it's just some glitch in the computer, and it's not even really IN 4WD, so... fingers crossed, that disconnecting the battery for a while will resolve that, AND the engine light... so that I can take the damn thing in for emissions!
Other than that, there's not much to report... which is why I'm not writing as much lately.
The big news this week has been about China's AI, DeepSeek crashing the American AI market!
Chat GPT and it's American competitors were dominating the AI sphere, with their pay to use models.
And then out of nowhere, China released DeepSeek, which is as good or better than ChatGPT, but cost them only six million dollars to produce!.. because their approach was so much more efficient than the bloated tech companies in the states!
Not only that, but their version is both free, and open source!
So in less than a week, everybody's switched over to using DeepSeek, and it's destroying the American AI market, as well as high-end chip manufacturers like NVidia, who wanted the world to believe you couldn't even compete in the AI market without their chips!.. which are forbidden to be sold to China!
I downloaded DeepSeek, and have also been messing around with it the past few nights from the desktop PC, and I've got to say, I love it!
I was asking different questions about album production in FL Studio, and it wasn't just giving me answers... it was like, "You're recording an album? That's FANTASTIC! Such a wonderful creative journey to undertake, I hope you have fun with it, and I'm always here to help!"
Chat GPT is very cold.
But DeepSeek is like your supportive friend!
I'm so glad it's open source, because that makes it nearly impossible for the U.S. to ban!
It really destroyse the entire AI bubble that they had going on here, because now developers from all over the globe can just use this free, open source platform, and AI is just liberated out of the hands of profiteering forever!
And it's so funny, because I was only a few entries ago I was talking about the free, open source internet of old, and how that was the way it was supposed to be.
And then, two entries ago, I was talking about how the whole time dynamic about the future being unpredictable, because the present is in freefall... or, in other words, you don't known whats happening in the present that will affect the near future!
And DeepSeek was a perfect example of that!
This AI that American coprporations, government, and public had no idea the Chinese had developed, and were just about to release, globally!
People on the left, who I should be sympathizing with, have been in almost a state of hysteria this past week with things Trump's either trying to do, or threatening to do... like freeze all Federal grant money, and so forth.
I've seen TikTokers I thought were fairly sane, predicting that in the near future we'll all be starving, and homeless, rioting in the streets, and that will be the excuse to declare martial law!
I've seen others just despondent that we're all going to Hell and nobody's going to save us.
But I refuse to buy into that mindset!
The US basically has not had a functional federal government for 8 years now, between Trump and Biden... and corporations have taken that opportunity to get very aggressive toward the working class.
But China's taken that same opportunity to innovate and advance, such that, in this moment, they're in this unexpected position to just... win the love of the American working class, and crash big American tech stocks too!
And China's not the only country that's been doing something with the past 8 years, I'm sure!
We've had our head's up our asses since 2016, and don't even understand what the 2020s are really about!
And now the rest of the world is showing us!
So, in my opinion, it doesn't matter how evil a plan the Trump administration has, or how fast they try to roll it out, because it's an OUTDATED plan!
It's like coming up with the ultimate computer virus for Windows 98, and releasing it now! It would've destroyed civilization in 1999, but in 2025, it's only going to be some annoyance!
And I'm sticking with that more positive mindset, because I already went through my personal nightmare last year!
This year, I need to sleep at night, so I can work my job and pay my rent in a new life!
I refuse to lose any sleep over everybody elses nightmare scenarios!
There's not gonna be any starvation in the streets and martial law!
