Tynamo Community Day

77F and sunny this afternoon.
After I came to a stopping point, tweaking the music for, Other Friends, I opened up, Archeology, and actually recorded test vocals for it last night!
I still haven't figured out how to record vocals directly in FL Studio... it's not very straightforward, and I didn't feel like watching 10 YouTube tutorials.
But I did do a good proof of concept using Audacity.
I did have to settle for listening in one headphone, while singing, so I could hear myself with the other ear... like I did last July, with, Closer To You, but I can hear myself a lot better in this flat than I could in the bedroom at the house.
Something about the shape of the room, and makeup of the walls, I guess.
The microphone's also a lot better than the USB condenser mic I was using last year.
Audacity got an upgrade too, and was no longer crashing on me every five minutes like last year.
The end result was pretty good!
However, I'll have to start from scratch, because I forgot that to do this right, I need to have the music in WAV format, rather than FLAC.
Also, I clipped off the beginning silence on the music track, which is a no-no, because that makes it impossible to import a newer version of the music later, and have it line up with the vocals.
Still, it was fun to be in my own place, on a Saturday night, with candles going after dark, and recording vocals... like I haven't done in sixteen years!.. since living at AutumnWood, in 2008.
I also talked to Tim on the phone for a few hours.
Colleen wasn't available.
And now today is Tynamo community day in Pokemon Go, which began at 2PM and will go on until 5PM.
I've got a lure on the tower's pokestop and am catching a few from here in the flat.
Not sure how serious I'm gonna be about this event.
I do have to run some errands at some point.
Well that was a pretty nice afternoon!
I went walking around downtown, catching Tynamo and spinning stops until I ended up at Fountain Plaza on Benton, where I did a quick, Unown raid with remote Colleen.
Then I made my way to the parking garage, and up into my car.
Still catching as I drove, I went to get beer at Randall Liquors, then swung over to the house to run the water and leave Prowly more food.
I caught a shiny in the driveway of Melody Manor, so I decided to take that as a good sign.
Back downtown, I parked in the loading zone of the tower to bring my beer upstairs, then parked the car in the garage and grabbed my coffee thermos that I'd left in there last night.
Outside the garage I did a shadow Drowsy raid, for which one other local person joined me.
Then it was across the street to the little ice cream shop on Downer & Stolp, to scope it out... and I got a waffle cone with one scoop of Pink Fireworks ice cream, which tasted a bit like cotton candy and strawberries.
I finished my cone back at Fountain Plaza, then walked around a while more, getting invited to an Articuno raid while over on River Street.
Eventually I made my way back upstairs to the flat... where I just made more coffee.
Not a bad little event.
I got three shinies, and evolved one into Electross.
Now my errands are run, and I've had some ice cream.
What more can you ask of a Sunday afternoon in July?
Okay!.. I'm all clean & shiny, and the laundry's in the wash downstairs.
I took care of that stuff early cuz Tim wanted to chat again tonight, and Joe Biden bowed out of running for a 2nd term today, so that'll be big news to talk about.
I managed to record new vocals for, Archeology, this afternoon, and got it all processed and onto my phone to review over the week... along with the revisions to the music for, Other Friends.
So this weekend marks a milestone for the album, because I've finally have a draft of one song with vocals on it!
My washer's gonna be done in four minutes, so I'm gonna get down there and throw it all into the dryer, then call Tim.
It was a decent weekend!
Let's hope there's some good news in the week to come.
