83F and sunny this evening, but it's been moody today, with clouds, and even some rain in the afternoon.

I was up by 11:30, and started playing while still in bed.

I think I did my first raid this morning on the toilet while the coffee was brewing.

I went two blocks down to Benton & Stolp where the Elks building, old library, and fountain plaza are at.

It's a spot where you can reach two gyms and several pokestops, which I lit up with lures.

Sitting there I successfully did four or five raids without having to spend money on a remote raid pass... inviting others to use their remotes to join me, instead.

It was nicely overcast in the morning with a cool breeze, and I was in that spot for about an hour, until the sun came out, and then I walked around the block and came back to the flat.

I was grinding all day, catching, doing raids, completing research tasks... and I was in and out of the flat several times... each time the weather being different.

After my first return to the flat, I realized I was out of food, so I had to go get the car and drive out to Aldi on West Galena, where I picke up groceries as fast as I could.

At that point in the day it was still sunny, and I was invited to a raid before I got home, so I pulled over into a gas station on Galena to do it.

Back at the garage, I stacked my grocery bags onto the luggage dolly and strapped them in... carrying a few extra in the back pack... and got them all back into the apartment, and put them away.

Sitting in the rocker, I did a raid at David Yano, with a mix of locals and remotes, and friended two local players the way MoxieGirl96 had done with me yesterday.

After that I realized I'd forgotten to pick up smokes, so I went walking up to the BP on Lincoln for those... an now it was cloudy out.

--<>--

After getting my smokes I walked over to Downer and sat down on a bench on the bridge between Broadway and Stolp, where I could get the Grand Army Republic gym... and with my coffee beside me on the bench, I tried to do another invite raid.

Nobody responded in time, which turned out to be a good thing, as it started sprinkling... so I walked back to the tower, getting to the door just as it started to pour!

Back in the flat again, I did a couple more raids and then decided to finally go down to Altiro, the Latin Fusion restaruant in the base of the tower.

In Altiro, I had two Coronas, and some chicken tacos.

I did a lot of grinding in there, but no raids.

After that, I walked around the block again and smoked, but then it was back up to the flat to use the bathroom... and another raid.

The sun came out again, and now it was time to get over to the house!

Back to the garage... back in the car... and then I was back in the house on Jackson.

Prowly had eaten the food I left for him yesterday.

I ran the hot water and put out more moist food for him.

After that I threw the kitchen sink rug, and the little Fender amp in the van and went back to the garage.

By now it was nearing 6PM, and try as I might I couldn't get anybody to appear for a last raid.

But then when I got back up here, I just went and sat in the Yano gym... because other people can see if there's players in a raid gym.

And sure enough two locals popped into the lobby with me.

We all left at the 10 second countdown mark because 3 players isn't enough to do the raid... but then we all 3 went back in, and were joined by four more... for a total of seven players.

That final raid ended a little afte 6PM, but we won, and I made a new friend from it.

And now GoFest is over for another year.

------------{=0=}------------

This GoFest was pretty interesting.

The spawns weren't the greatest, but the storyline, that unfolded through the special research, and the raids, over two days, was pretty good!

The theme was about light & dark, day & night, and it began yesterday with strange spells of darkness during the day which lead to wormholes forming and letting through ultrabeasts like Necrozma, and the others we saw yesterday... Celesteela, Stakataka, Kartana, and Pheromosa.

But then today, the only raids all day long were Necrozma fused with Solgaleo, and Necrozma fused with Lunala.

Whenever we defeated one or the other forms, Necrozma would unfuse... so all we could catch after the raid was normal Necrozma.

But in the rewards, we'd get not only Necrozma candy, but Solar Fusion stones, or Lunar fusion stones, depending on which version of Necrozma we'd just defeated... and we'd also get Cosmog candy!

--<>--

Cosmog is the pokemon who can evolve either into Lunala, or Solgaleo, depending on whether it's evolved in the daytime, or the night time.

He was introduced into Pokemon Go last year through special research, but his true significance was a bit of a mystery.

They hinted that Cosmog would be important down the road.

And this weekend we learned that it's solar and lunar evolutions are the pokemon who can fuse with Necrozma.

And another special research this weekend gave you a Cosmog, in case you didn't get one last year.

So... strange darkness in the daytime lead to wormholes that let through the ultrabeasts who took over the gyms, and the strongest one of those was Necrozma, who took center stage all day today.

But then another field research today revealed that all of it was ultimatley caused by Marshadow!.. a fighting ghost type from Alola.

Marshadow used his ghostly shadow powers to create the anomaly that set the rest of it all into motion!

Unfortunately, even though I raided all day, I don't have enough of either he solar or lunar fusion candy to fuse any of my 27 Necrozma to Lunala, or Solgaleo!

So that kinda sucks!

As for shiny Pokemon... only seven.

Not bad, but... none of the ultra beasts were shiny.

Thanks to the fact that I called-in on Friday, and took care of salvaging all the lights, cameras, lawnmower, and other stuff from the house on that day... I was able to fully immerse myself in GoFest 2024, yesterday and today.

It took up my whole weekend, but I still did manage to get groceries, and go feed Prowly both days.

It was good to get back into the old game for two days... here downtown, where I've played so often before, and even done a few GoFests before... and renew old traditions like going to the pancake house, and having a Corona at Altiro.

It was pretty cool to actually have an apartment in the tower this time around, to return to throughout the day, to cool off, or wait out the rain.

And though I was physically doing all the walking and grinding alone... I didn't feel alone, because I did so many raids with in-game friends, both old and new, including Justin and Colleen... who I debriefed with on the phone, both yesterday and today, after the days events were over.

Some of those old friends included, TrueHavik, UltraSpock, DManBoydii, WaterDSlayer, 92AngelicD, Gallo5388, and SkydiveFlamingo... all of whom I've been exchanging gifts with daily for years, and a couple of whom I met in real life.

All of the above raided with me this weekend, one or more times.

And then we have MoxieGirl96, and a couple others, who I made friends with and raided with just this weekend... who very likely live closeby.

It was just nice to forget my woes for two days, and focus on a fun old game that's been a mainstay in my life for eight years... here in the downtown that's been a fun getaway for even longer.

TORNADO WARNING

Okay, I'm all clean and shiny and my laundry's done washing and is in the dryer down there.

But out my window up here is lightning, and the wind outside is getting pretty strong.

Alexa's notified me over the past ten minutes of both a severe thunderstorm warning... and a tornado warning for Aurora, over the next hour!

Hopefully thing's'll be okay, but the elevator got wierd on me, on the way down to put the laundry in the dryer... had a glitch and stopped on the mezanine floor without opening... thought for a couple minutes, and finally took me down to 1.

The little exhaust fan is off, because I feel like if it has to fight the strong wind, that could burn it out.

AC is off too.

It's definitely windy and raining out there right now.

That's the latest radar... looks like a pretty massive, violent system moving in.

Will the sky beam cut it up? XD

It's looking pretty rough out the window... rainwater cascading down the street in waves, with the sky flashing angrily... but no thunder to be heard yet.

--<>--

Wouldn't it be crazy if Melody Manor got mowed down by a tornado tonight... right after I got myself and the dog to safety, and the last of the good stuff out of it and safe in a storage unit... or my car, that's in a big parking garage?

Who would AllState even pay?

Would that tank the sale?

What would BMO foreclose on?

------------{=0=}------------

11:30PM

Sky is still very flashy with lightning, and distant brooding thunder continues to rumble, but the wind's died down and it's not raining much at all now.

Radar shows the worst has passed over, and there's nothing following behind it.

This moody pattern of sunny heat, broken up by clouds and rain, or storms, is supposed to continue through Tuesday.

They're saying 90 for tomorrow and Tuesday, so it's good that Prowly will still have the house with it's central air to hang out in during the day.

After that... back down to the 70s.

------------{=0=}------------

As the sky continues to flash...

This week's gonna be about the struggle to close the sale!

If everything goes perfectly, that house will belong to Mr. Taylor and his group by Thursday or Friday.

If so, next weekend will be the first, living here, that I don't have Colleen visiting, or a game festival going on... and that I don't have to drive back and forth to the house to run hot water and leave food for a stubborn cat who refuses to live downtown with me.

New timers will start... on the renovation of the house... and the union negotiations at the end of August.
