69F with fluffy white clouds this afternoon.
Not sure where to start today.
There's more to pack, but I could also move a few more things over to the flat.
Can't pick up the U-haul until 6PM.
I cleaned the platform rocker and threw it's cushions in the washer.
My old tape cassettes have been in a plastic tasket for years, but the things to heavy and awkward to have sitting around in the new flat, so I'm gonna transfer them into a couple of my underbed storage drawers.
I'm taking those drawers, the tape tasket, and some rugs, coats, and hangers over there in a few minutes.
I should also take the night stand.
Got all the tapes squared away in two underbed drawers, and threw out the tasket.
Night stand fits perfect next to the bed, by the inset.
Got the runner rug in the hall and bathroom & kitchen throw rugs in place.
Hung all my jackets in the closet... still plenty of space to hang more clothes.
And the saurkraut crock is there now, high up above the kitchenette.
I changed my reservation at 4PM to be a 10 foot instead of a 15 foot truck, and picked it up early.
My car is sitting in a grocery store parking lot next door to the U-haul.
They wouldn't let me leave it in their own lot!
Because there's no such thing as a single person who has no friends or relatives, and moves themselves.
Hopefully the RAV4 will be okay.
I'll start loading it up in a bit.
Boxes from the living room are in.
Boxes from the back room are next.
Then I still have to pack some final boxes, before the furniture goes in.
I doubled checked my math on the north wall, and it was wrong, in my notes.
I deduced 2ft of clearance by the kitchenette, with the bed, rocker, and table.
A recheck of the math shows it's only 14 inches... which is what became obvious by looking, once the bed frame got into the flat.
A double check of my math for the south wall still checks out that the entire desk, cat climber, and dresser will fit.
Only moving into a place this small, is it necessary to keep measuring and double checking the math, to avoid bringing something that won't fit!
But it's good that the whole desk can come, because those drawers are critical storage space.
I went upstairs, showered, shaved, etc... then took down the shower curtain to wash it, and packed a box of bathroom stuff which came downstairs and was filled in with downstairs bathroom stuff.
Then I packed a box of kitchen stuff.
Then I dealt with laundry... I think right now it's my 3rd load today in the dryer.
The rest is in the dresser, and the plastic shower curtain liner is drying out on the porch.
After a break here, I'm gonna load more boxes.
But there's still shit to pack, here in the back room... including this computer.
It's gonna be dark by the time I'm loading furniture.
Okay!.. all packing is done, and all boxes are in the truck.
There will be a last minute box tomorrow morning with stuff I'm still using tonight, but that's it.
I just ordered a pizza, because I have no food, and all the kitchen stuff is in the truck now anyway.
After a break here I think I'm gonna start loading furniture.
But I do have an urge to call Tim.
I probably shouldn't... but I might.
Okay, that's it for tonight!
All the boxes and furniture are in the van, with a padlock on it for the night.
There will be a few things more to load in the morning... a couple pictures, the mirrors, this computer, and some last random stuff.
But The big stuff, the desk sections, the dresser, the rocker... all in the truck!
On that slow elevator, it's gonna take a while to unload that truck tomorrow, so I have to get an early start!
