A cool 66F and rainy this morning.

After making my coffee I came downstairs to find Prowly in the music room.

I fed him and then he went to snooze on his cat climber in the studio.

I immediately left for the animal welfare clinic in North Aurora, getting there at 9:50 but waited until 10AM to go inside.

The man at the desk was very matter of fact about things.

I told him I needed a male cat fixed.

He got my name and number, and Prowly name and age (2) and handed me a form to fill out and bring with me on Tuesday, between 7:30 and 9:30AM... and pick him up by 4PM.

He said if I had trouble catching him for Tuesday, Wednesday would also be fine.

So, this is a clinic that Colleen found, who will fix cats for cheep... like $50.00, without requiring a prior visit for blood work or any of the the other red tape.

They can also chip Prowly for thirty more dollars, so I'd like to get that done.

But the plan is, Monday night, after the move, we'll come back here and wait for Prowly to come in like he normally does... and then get him into a cat carrier, take him to the studio, and I'll hang onto him overnight and bring him to the clinic Tuesday morning.

Then, he'll be back by Tuesday at 4:30, and hopefully things go smoothly after that!

He was upstairs when I went to bed last night, and he was doing that thing again where he was meowing to me for attention, but would hiss and spit when I got close.... just acting all crazy, before finally bolting out the cat door up there, into the night.

It's a Jeckyl & Hyde act, where he gets dangerous like that at night... especially after he's been outside in the dark for a few hours.

I'm really hoping that getting him fixed will cure him of that behavior!

It's gonna be a big transition for both of us... cooped up together in such a small place, but for Prowly it's a bigger change, because he was free to go in and out whenever he felt like it, and roam such a large area.

I still have my doubts as to whether or not he can adapt, but we have to try.

After getting home, I called the woman Fernando recommended to set up renter's insurance and left a message, so hopefully she gets back to me today.

11:16AM

Okay, Karina from State Farm called me back and now I'm all set up for renter's insurance, at the cost of a whopping $8.50 a month!

She's gonna send that information to Fernando today, and with that, I'm all good to go for the move in.

All I need to do now is get the parking garage pass from the city on Monday or Tuesday.

------------{=0=}------------

The closer I get to this move, the more ambivalence I have about it... but I recognize that feeling from other times in my life where there was a big change.

It's basically just the fear that I won't be able to handle the new thing, for whatever reason... like the new job will be too hard, or in this case, the new flat will be too small, and Prowly will be miserable.

But those fears are never correct.

Everything so far has gone quite smoothly, and that's saying something when there's so many moving parts;

  • Starting a new job.

  • Selling the house.

  • Packing.

  • U-haul rental.

  • Getting the keys.

  • Cat clinic appointment.

And so on!..

So I think it all will work out.

I'm trying to focus on a day in, say, October... when the house has been sold and the foreclosure never went on my record... and I've gotten that raise... and Prowly and I have settled into the flat and are happy with our little city life, taking walks downtown... and I'm finishing up my album!

And I'd like to be able to write on that day, about how happy I am to finally have worked out all the problems of the past two years, surrounding Dad, his death, his finances, his dog, his house, and all of his & mom's cursed & haunted belongings.

And happy to be truly living my own life again, with the future finally looking good.

Okay, time for the last day of work before the show gets on the road!
