75F and overcast this morning.

Only going up to 84F today, but it's supposed to rain

Over the week, everything I put on the curb got legs and walked away... three storage bins, two chairs, a table stand, Brian's guitar, and my old computer.

All that was left this morning was the lid to one of the bins, so I pitched it into the now empty recycle bin, before taking that and the garbage bin back to the dog yard.

I checked up on Natalie too, and she's slightly taller than me now.

The grass is also getting tall.

I suppose I'll get stuck mowing that lawn after the move at some point, but I don't want to think about it right now.

Last night I packed a box of dishes, glases, mugs, and silverware.

But there's still a bunch of random stuff around the house that needs to come with me.

I'm gonna have to pack a couple, rando-boxes.

I stayed up too late again last night, so this Wednesday morning is shot.

I need to get up early tomorrow and go to Allerton in person, because it's impossible to get Fernando on the phone.

I figure I'll stop at 5/3 Bank and make a deposit on the way back.

I checked their location, and it's four blocks from the tower.

I just went down to the basement and plugged the southwest landscape lights back into a mechanical timer, set to have them on from 7PM ot 7AM.

All the other outdoor lights are on photo-sensors, so everything should continue as normal, and the central air & cellar dehumidifier should run like normal too... until closing.

The astronomical timer won't work after the Wifi goes down on Monday, so that, and it's repeater are in the electrical 1 box... which i had to reopen to get the mechanical timer.

Back upstairs I noticed Prowly sleeping in the cat carrier I put in the studio, next to his cat tower!

Hopefully when we come to get him for the vet he'll already be in a cat carrier like that!

Three days to go before the final push on Saturday.

The forecast now says 77F for Monday, which would be a blessing!

I just went into the U-haul app and changed the pick up time for the truck to 6PM on Sunday, meaning I won't have to drop it off until 6PM on Monday!

That gives me less daylight to load the truck on Sunday, but... I think it'll be fine.

Having until 6PM on Monday makes everything less tense.

Mr. Taylor texted me today that the title company had sent me a form to sign, authorizing them to ask BMO for payout information.

So tonight I had to bust out the printer/scanner box... hook up the printer to print it... then sign the thing... then put the printer away and hook up the scanner.

But the scanner software is on Dad's computer, and this one doesn't have an optical drive to read the CD, so I had to go online and create a profile at Canon.Com before they'd let me download the software!

Then I had to install the software, scan the signed authorization, save it as a PDF, and attach it to a reply email to the title company!

Colleen was also asking about the much celebrated family coat of arms certificate that's been framed on the wall here in the back room for decades, and what the name of the organization was who researched it.

The Sanson Institude of Heraldry, is who they were... finding in the General Armory of Great Britain by Sir Bernard Berk, a coat of arms bearing the name, Melody, or an ontamatological variant thereof.

It is a sable (black) lion, rampant, and reguardant (looking backward) on an argent (silver) field.

And Dad not only bought the certificate but a full set of glassware, bearing the proud family shield!..

Tumblers, tall boys, and stemmed glasses like the one pictured above!

And now that we're losing the house, She was thinking of ordering more of these glasses, from this ancient, and esteemed institution!

--<>--

So, for the first time in my life tonight, I looked up the Sanson Institute of Heraldry online and found, really only one newspaper article that explained their brief history from 1963 to 1975.

While not a total scam, the institute was a bit dubious.

They would find a coat of arms that bore something sounding like your family name, but there was no geneology involved, so... no guarantee that it had anything to do with your particular family.

Still, it had popular appeal, and in March of 1966, they appeared on, The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson, having done up certs for both Jonny and his sidekick, Ed McMahon.

And that's where Dad must've learned of the institute, because he watched the Tonight Show religiously through the 60s and 70s.

Dad never tried to gaslight us into thinking this was definitely our coat of arms, but that didn't stop us from making up our own legends about it.

The fact that the lion is rampant, and on a field of silver, denotes an honorable warrior.

But the fact that the lion is black, and looking backward, denotes some kind of dishonor!

Brian's always called it the cowardly lion.

The rest of us speculated about some kind of curse... from some ancient witch.

But it always did, weirdly feel fitting for our family.

And we used those glasses for every single holiday dinner!

--<>--

Since the Sanson Institute closed up in 1975, we can't order any new glasses.

I packed one of each style for myself.

The rest will, one way or another, be distributed out to the extended family.

Not counting my own, we have 7 tumblers, 6 tall boys, and 4 stems left... because some have broken over the years.

That's 17 individual glasses, so... I think that more than covers anybody out there who cares.

Anyway, it's an interesting thing to meditate on at this moment.

We're only worried about them because I'm about to lose the house where these glasses always lived.

I have been... somewhat rampant about that... and also regardant!.. tracing back the roots of this tragedy.

And I was honorable... in that I took care of both Dad and his house for many years.

But I am dishonored... by a delinquent balloon payment, not of my making!

I suppose, it's really just the story of the lower class, and how despite doing all the right things, they always manage to get fucked by the system and the banks!

Tale as old as time.
