77F and cloudy today.

Our week long streak of upper 90sF was finally broken last night by the big thunder storms that came through.

I just got back from the storage unit, where I dropped off Sheila's china, along with one last family photo album found upstairs, my Gibson bass in it's case, and a guitar stand.

The table stand on the parking was taken this morning, along with one of the plastic storage bins.

The other stuff, including the old computer, are still there for now.

In a little bit here, I'm gonna go over that rug in the studio one more time, then roll it up... then get down into the basement.

2:15PM

I washed the dishes, then hit the rug again with the wire brush and the shark vacuum before rolling it up and securing it with duct tape.

Rug's in the living room now, and the twin bedding, plus the two rug slip mats are packed in a vacuum bag.

Somebody took the computer and some candle holders... probably a scrapper.

So now it's just two chairs and one storage bin out there.

Last night I bagged up some other matts, and boxed the remaining decor, and a second box of random crap and office supplies.

Basement is next, but there's still dishes, and still some stuff here in the back room to deal with.

7:12PM

Colleen called to say she'd been talking to a client about Prowly's situation, and the woman, who's got experience with feral cats, said that males usually become a lot more tame as soon as they're fixed... and that at only 2, Prowly stands a great chance of adapting to indoor life.

Colleen called around and found a place in North Aurora that will fix him for 50 bucks, with no prior visits required.

So, we're hashing together a plan to get him fixed next week when she's here.

I just bought a harness and leash on Amazon for $25.00 to use with him down the line if this all works out.

I was down in the basement for nearly five hours, sorting out the mess down there.

I put all my remaining power tools in the van to take to work, and then packed five boxes of, "shop shit" to take to the apartment.

Clamps, fasteners, volt meter, solder iron, rivet gun, staple guns, and a bunch of other miscellaneous shit that I'm likely to use around the flat.

I emptied out the drawer organizer unit, brought it upstairs, cleaned it up, and put it next to it's companion in the living room. They should both fit in my little closet.

I generated four heavy bags of garbage that went to the dog yard, and brought up a bunch of things to sell, like the bottle jack & jack stands.

Colleen is claiming the rain chain... it'll be payment for her efforts with the storage unit, and Prowly.

Getting shit down from upstairs was quite a pain.

But getting shit up from the basement was even more exhausting.

I was up and down the inside steps, and the outside steps, running to the car, the dog yard, the living room, and the music room, back room, and porch!

The only break I took was to run for beer and smokes to Randall Liquors.

But now I'm out of the basement... except for my pencil sharpener down there.

The shelving units are staying put!.. along with the electrical, plumbing, and chemical shit that remains on them.

The two tables are also staying put, though I may fold up the black one, to get it out of the way of the buyers.

The DeWalt batteries and chargers are up here in the back room now, along with a bunch of other stuff yet to be packed, like some arts and crafts stuff, my box of electrical wires and peripherals, and the cassette tapes.

Still also have to pack dishes & silverware, and other household stuff.

8:48PM

Just took some measurements and did some calculations and the cat climber can fit in the apartment!

It's not as huge as I was imagining.

And it's also very light!

I think I can just carry it downstairs no problem... and also easily dolly it around.

If I move the fridge agains the dresser, there's space for the cat climber between the desk and the fridge.

And there on his high perch, at the end of the desk, he'd have a perfect view out the window of the city below.

So he'd have that, my office chair, the rocker, the bed, and the toilet seat (with it's plushy cover) to sleep on during the day.

And like I said a few days ago, I could set up one of my cameras to view the whole flat (except the bathroom) and keep tabs on him during the workday.

I could even use that camera to talk to him.

Also, when there's no air conditioner, he can sit on the window sill and listen to the sounds of the city, while watching the birds fly past.

It'd be a very nice way to reclaim the life that was stolen from us the day Dad broke his hip, when he was still just a kitten upstairs with me.

9:53PM

I'm all clean & shiny, with my laundry in the washer.

After starting that load, I did manage to get the cat climber downstairs pretty easily, and wheeled it into the studio.

I brushed and vacuumed it too.

And I got my old Sanford Giant pencil sharpener out of the basement, and up here to the back room.

So... that's a wrap for, Pack SAT & SUN, but I did manage to make a hell of a lot of progress!

The only shit left to deal with is here on the main floor, and it's all fairly light packing.

I'm only taking a couple dishes, bowls, mugs, & glasses, a couple pans, and a handful of silverware.

Everything else is here in the back room now, which will make it easier to pack before and after work.

And then there will be the last minute boxes of bathroom stuff and food that can't be packed until the day of moving.

So... I did more or less begin this process at the start of May... and here at the end of June, it looks like the move's gonna go off pretty smoothly.

The bigger things to worry about are as follows;

  1. Getting prowly fixed & transitioned to the flat after the move.

  2. Closing on the house sale, and getting the 3K I was promised.

  3. My union successfully winning us all a pay raise for September.

If those three things can happen, then I won't have any worries going forward!

I'll be able to afford my life with Prowly in the flat, and rest easy knowing that he, Snoop, Yvette, the house, and maybe even Natalie, are all doing well... and will continue to do well for many years to come!
