Summer Solstice
Thursday, June 20th, 2024 10:25 am![]() |
83F and sunny this morning, on it's way up to 89F.
I actually went to bed early and got a good night's sleep.
The summer solstice will be at 3:50PM CDT today!
My refinance was rejected the week of the winter solstice... beginning the seige and crisis which has lead to me packing my shit here, six months later.
What a half an orbit it's been!
I think I'm gonna get the table and night stand down from upstairs this morning before I go.
But we'll see, after I've had some coffee.
I have to sort out the dresser too.
This one in the back room's been being used for random storage since last year.
I need to empty that stuff out and get all my clothes from upstairs into it.
I did brush all the dog hair off my runner rug yesterday, and washed it last night.
I hung it over a door to dry and it's good to go now.
Speaking of laundry, that's another thing that'll be diffrent in the tower.
I'll be using the elevator to do it down in the laundry room.
But the washers and dryers have an app you can use to pay for them, which is pretty cool.
And, speaking of rugs... I ordered some dry shampoo for the big rug in the studio, which will arrive on Saturday, along with my luggage dolly, and my vacuum bags.
I don't know if any kind of sale is happening.
There doesn't seem to be time.
I feel like, this close to the wire, the priority is getting myself packed and ready to go.
Two weeks ago, I lost a whole weekend to an injured back.
Last week, all of Saturday was swallowed up by the lawn.
So hopefully this weekend I'll be hyper-productive both days.
The U-haul is confirmed for pickup at 2PM on Sunday the 30th.
I have to have it back by 2PM on Monday the 1st.
I got a 15 footer, when a 10 was recommended, so there should be plenty of space.
So the plan is to load it all up on Sunday night, and then Monday, just drive straight over to the tower and get moved in by like 1PM.
Because I have AT&T coming between 2 and 4PM, so the truck really has to be back before 2PM.
However, if I can get permission to start moving in on Sunday, then that would make things easier!
I could get the rug, desk, bed, etc, into the flat on Sunday, then pack the rest in the truck Sunday night, and finish the move first thing on Monday.
If I could get Fernando to call me back, I'd know for sure.
I just called him again this morning to ask about the air conditioning.
Okay, the little kitchen table's been swapped out upstairs with the folding table from the back room.
And the kitchen table's down in the livingroom with it's legs removed.
I need to swap out the night stand too, but first I need to figure out the lamp situation.
I have six table lamps... three pairs... I want to take with me, plus the sconce lamp over the bed upstairs.
So... if I rely on overhead lights.... all I need is one lamp by my bed, and one in the back room here.
I'll think about it at work.
I'm gonna have to use the Discover card to cover 1st months rent.
Guess I'll do that tonight or tomorrow.
The PNC Visa can cover the U-Haul.
And I'm still living off the PenFed.
Things can get paid down more once I have the house money.
Those cards are maxing out!
I said early in the year I could probably last on credit until June or July, and I was right.
It's a good thing I committed to moving early in May... and that I got that promotion!
I'm gonna be threading the needle to get out of here.
I may have to use some of that house money to keep paying PNC through July and August... praying for the union to get us that raise in September.
But if the union prevails... I should be out of the woods.
If not... it'll be bankruptcy time.
More painting of hand railings today at work... Hunt Club, Straton Blue, and Soft Fern.
I'm home now, and the dresser back here is all cleared of bullshit.
I also just packed a box with the printer, the scanner, and a bunch of printing supplies & paper... and put that in the livingroom.
So, with the tables this morning, that's a decent bit of moving for a workday.
Prowly also just came in for some food, and then left again.
He didn't show last night, but he did eat some food after I was asleep.
I'm not gonna block the cat door the day I move.
I'll close off the basement, so he doesn't hide in the crawl space, but I'm leaving him access until the house actually sells, and I hand over the keys.
Because Taylor thinks July 19th at the latest, but... has he ever dealth with BMO Harris before?
I mean... it could wind up that I have to deed the house to Prowly to get off the hook for it!
And BMO will be sending mail to Prowly Meowly Melody about how he's in violation of the estrangement clause, and needs to enter loss mitigation with them.
