What KIND of Haunted?

83F out there tonight, and it's gonna be 94F tomorrow.

So, before my coffee was even done brewing this morning, I was straightening things up and sweeping and dusting upstairs.

That continued downstairs, mostly in the kitchen, but the other rooms as well... trying to make the rooms presentable for the video and the photos.

After the whirlwind of house cleaning, I made my walkthrough video, using TikTok to do it, because it lets me edit on the fly.

After I was done with that, and it had uploaded, I went around again and took photos of the house, inside and out.

Then I had to go to TikTok on the desktop machine, and download my video to my hard drive.

Then I sent it to Mr. Taylor as a Google Drive link.

But by then I was out of time, so in the email, I told him I'd send the photos from work later in the day.

But I didn't realize the all-day nightmare I was in for with Google Drive and a phone, in a building with shitty WIFI... trying to upload 62 HD photographs!

By the time I'd clocked in, Mr. Taylor had gotten the video, and thanked me.

And he awaited the photos, anxiously.

My maintenance task for the day seemed simple... just get started in room 296.

I'd finished painting 213 yesterday, so today in 296, I began by getting all the desks and furniture into the middle of the room.

After that I finished getting all the shit off the walls... mostly staples... and I'd gotten most of it done last week when I was first assigned this room.

After that I removed all the outlet and switch plates.

And then it was time to patch.

And OH. MY. GOD!.. just like in 213, every goddam square inch of all four walls was perforated with staple holes!

Up high, near the ceiling!

Down low, near the floor!

And everywhere in between!

It took me until the end of the shift, to finish patching that goddam room!

Okay, but at a certain point, early in the shift I started trying to upload my 62 house photos to Google drive and it looked like it was working on it, so I let it go... but after an hour nothing had made it up there yet!

I was checking the wifi signal... rebooting the phone... trying to upload them in chunks of five at a time....

And it would look like it was working... but then they wouldn't be there!

I dashed off an email to Mr. Taylor apologizing for the delay and explaining that the process was slow going.

Finally I got a warning that my drive space was maxed out and I had to weed it, or pay for more!

So I wasted a ton of time weeding out all this bullshit that Google Drive decided to store for me, that I never wanted to be there!

After that I tried again, and it looked like it worked, but then I saw that I had doubles of everything now???

So I deleted all the doubles.

Finally, I THOUGHT i'd sent the 62 photos to Mr. Taylor, around 7PM, but he only received three photos... AND THEY WEREN'T EVEN THE ONES I WAS UPLOADING!

So I apologized to him and told him I'd try again from home on the desktop machine.

------------{=0=}------------

When I was home, I hooked the phone directly up to the computer and copied all 62 photos onto the PC drive, in their own folder.

After that, I went to Google Drive and deleted all the shit it had managed to upload during the day, which wasn't much.

Then I uploaded my new desktop folder directly to GD.

GD allows you to copy a link to a folder, so I did that and did a test by sending myself the link to the folder.

The test worked.

So I sent the link to Mr. Taylor... and as I did, I confirmed with GD that he had editor level permissions to the contents of the folder.

And I checked it in the sent box, and it seems to work, but I told him there should be 62 photos and to let me know how it goes.

But of course, it's the end of the day now!

------------{=0=}------------

Mr. Taylor did tell me he's sending an inspector to visit on Friday morning at 9AM.

And I'm not sure what he means by, inspector?.. but I kinda hope it's an actual inspector, and not just some dude from Reddit with a Red Bull freaking out about the plaster!

I mean... a real inspector is still gonna have grave doubts about this place, but maybe he can tell me with authority, whether or not it should be condemned!

And if so, maybe he can tell me how to go about getting it officially condemned!

Because at this point, I'd like to do it, if it's called for!

My understanding of the process is that the city would buy the property from me... probably for exactly what's owed to the bank... but then deal with it themselves.

--<>--

And if the old Masonic Temple was any clue, then the way they'll deal with it is to just let it sit here until it demolishes itself!

Or to be more specific... let it sit here until it really starts to fall apart, and then put a chainlink fence around it... and let it sit some more, until ghost hunting crack teens finally accidentally burn it down!

--<>--

The inspector could, however, say... it doesn't need to be condemned, but... it's not worth the 76K.

If that's the case, I just have to keep insuring it until BMO auctions the damn thing.

And then it's the problem of he guy who bought it sight unseen for, god knows how much... because BMO will start the bidding at 73K.

Sight unseen... some idiot might pony up 120K for it!

And then he's gonna experience a LOT of buyer's remorse!

Such a person will NOT want to spend the money to have it torn down, because the land by itself will NOT be worth; what he paid for it PLUS what it cost to demolish the house.

So it'll sit in limbo... neglected... until... once again... it's condemned!

--<>--

The only scenario in which the house is not condemned is if Offer Heroes actually buys it and fixes it up!

If they can do that, GREAT!

--<>--

But the more I think about it, the more I think this house is destined to be a haunted, abandoned house for 10 to 20 years... and that it'll eventually burn down.

And that too, would be a pretty fitting end for the old girl!

She WANTS to be a haunted house!

I've been feeling it for years, and pushing against it!... illuminating all the dark spaces with lights, inside and outside... and trying to liven her up, with fun posters in the scariest corners, and fun stars painted on the ceiling in the studio!

Haunted, but charming Air B&B would be the ideal future for the old gal if she were to survive this foreclosure.

Freshened up better than I could do... and up to modern code... but still vintage, and romantically creepy, with the visitors all on notice that it's haunted.

But that's my dream for her.

SHE may just want to be straight up: cursed house with no electricity, half collapsed, haunted as shit, haunted!

Only visited by ghost hunting crack teens... and finally go up in a blaze of glory one fateful night, when... scared as shit... they knock over a candle, running away from like... some vision of old Dad in the scary downstairs bathroom, saying, "Let the wind blow!"
