Sunday, August 7th, 2022 06:36 pmBack in 2001, I adopted two female black cats... sisters, from a litter of kittens my brother's cat had had six weeks earlier. I named them Jet, which means black, and Mauli, which also means black. And Jet & Mauli were my two kitties for the next 18 and 19 years.
Jet died in July of 2019, at 18 years old. Her sister Mauli Died in June of 2020, at age 19.
By August of 2020, I'd resolved not to rush out and get new cats, to fill the void. I knew that one day, I wanted to do it again, with two siblings, but decided the new ones should be grey and white stripey cats, instead of black cats.
And I left it up to the universe.
Many people had told me, new cats find you. You don't need to find them. Others told me, wait, and give Jet & Mauli a chance to reincarnate and come back to me. So I left it up to the universe.

So today being Sunday, Dad & I went out to eat, as is our routine. And on our way back, just as we were pulling into our driveway, a little girl & boy were right there by the driveway, trying to round-up three kittens!
The girl had managed to pick up two of them, but the third ducked under the neighbor's front porch.
I asked her if those were her cats, and she explained that they'd found these three kittens outside yesterday, and had tried to take them home, but their mother refused to adopt three cats, so they had to put them out for the night, and today, were just trying to keep them safe.

Now, it's worth noting, here, that not only had I been picturing adopting two sibling stripey gray cats someday, but last year, I'd also had the foresight to buy a bag of cat kibble, and a jug of cat litter to keep upstairs with me... just in case I wound up adopting cats on the fly with no warning.
So... I took the two kittens the girl was holding, which allowed her to get the third kitten out from under the neighbor's porch.
As she held one, and I held two, I told her, "Okay, I can adopt two cats, but not three. I will take these two right now. So you need to take that one back to your mom and ask her again if she'll adopt just one cat."
The little boy didn't seem to think their mom would go for it, but the girl, who was older, seemed to think she might be able to swing it. She said she'd try.
I said, "Just see if your mom will keep her for the night so you can find her a home, but let her know the man down the block took two already."
By then, my two were trying to get out of my hands, so I quickly had to toss them onto my side porch. I then walked around and propped open my front doors, which open to the stairwell that goes up to my upstairs flat.
With the doors propped, I gathered my two cats off the side porch, and the girl and her brother took the third back home... and I brought my kittens upstairs.
As soon as we were up there, I pulled out the old litter box, filled it with litter, and put them both inside it. While they were investigating that, I quickly put a bowl on the floor and filled it with cat food.
As soon as they smelled the food, they found the bowl and started eating, by which point I was pouring them water in a second bowl.
They ate and drank for a good while, and Snoop used the litter box, but prowly didn't seem to have to go yet. Both of them went into my bathroom, which was right there... curled up, and went to sleep.
That was three hours ago, and they're still sleeping.
I guess they were exhausted.
------------{=0=}------------
So, I'm a little in shock right now. I wasn't planning for this to happen today, but... I mean... signs from the universe don't get any more blatant than this!
The exact pair of kittens I've been picturing adopting for two years... right there in my front yard... right as I'm pulling into the driveway? There was no way I could do anything but take them upstairs! I literally had no choice in the matter!
So I guess this means I'm gonna have to find a joe job pretty soon, cuz now I gotta buy cat litter and food, and pay for the vet... gotta get them fixed, and vaccinated, etc.
I guess a new chapter of my life has now fully begun.
If Snoop & Prowly live as long as Jet & Mauli did... I'll have them until I'm 72!

P.S. Just after writing this Prowly used the box too! If they're both using the box, my main fear is put to rest!
