36F this morning with Friday's snow still on the ground.

Four of Spades begins today.

One year ago was the day Tim & I drove up to Saint Charles to get the twin mattress that's now in the studio.

That was also the same trip where we stopped at Lowe's and got the space heater that I'm using here in the back room, right now.

The first thing I did today, after walking Yvette, was buy a new transformer...

And then after looking closer I realized this was an LED driver... not a transformer! So I cancelled the order.

I'll have to keep looking.

New Year's Day was only a week ago!

It feels like three months have passed since I was shot down for the refinance on WED, DEC 20... but today is only the third Monday since that happened!

And the first two, were Christmas Day, and New Year's Day!

So, this is the first normal Monday of a normal week since that catastrophe, and I don't yet feel up to calling BMO, today.

I need to just have a normal work day first... clocking in at 2:55... waiting for dismissal to play out... then going through my normal routine... not having to move furniture around and shampoo, or burnish hallway floors.

But I'll get there, with BMO.

This'll feel like a long week, but a final 3-day weekend awaits on Friday night!

However, the cold snap will begin Saturday night, when it goes down to 5F.

Sunday, the high will only be 9F, and it'll go down to four below!

Monday, MLK day; high 7F, low -6F!

And it'll stay that way for quite a while!

Monday the 25th is the first night we'll see a double-digit low again, of 19F.

Long periods of near zero... a few degrees above & below... are always a challenge for the plumbing downstairs.

I outfitted the kitchen sink lines with heating wires a few years ago, but the bathroom lines are still prone to freezing.

I just ordered heating wires and insulation for the bathroom... putting it on the AmEx for $77.00... but the damn wires will not be delivered until the middle of February!

Maybe I should cancel it!..

Okay, I just cancelled that order too!

I'll just have to suffer through this time, and make sure that over the coming year I prepare better for next winter.

Those lines need to be heated, and this damn gas heater back here needs to be repaired.

Not a bad day at work. Nice to get back to the routine.

But no joke, they did trash every room and scuff up all my hallways with black marks today, like we never cleaned a damn thing.

And then Chantele appeared... back from her overseas vacation... and had the gall to tell me I should clean and re-burnish one of the hallways tonight, because somebody had dragged something down it, and left a long, wiggly streak in the wax.

Like... did you not just find out that Lillian quit over the break?

And you're giving me extra work to do on a Monday?

I guess she feels pretty confident that I won't quit, but... I didn't do what she asked... because I didn't have the time!

And I'm not worried about it, because I've seen the levels of disappointment they put up with!

I know I've been bitching a lot about the job lately, but it struck me today what a huge percentage of the building is assigned to me.

Like... to really get every last thing in all those areas perfect, every single night cannot be done in eight hours.

So, either they're not serious about everything being perfect, or they know it's more like a 12 hour area, and expect whoever has it to work overtime on the regular.

But if the latter is true... and they have this four hour area that they can't keep manned... then maybe they need to hire a second full time person, and give them part of my zone!.. like the library, for example, which is huge.

Because a full time person would be more likely to stick around.

But why am I even bothering to worry about it?

This will never happen.

Still, I was thinking today that maybe I need to look for a better job before May gets here.

I don't mind janitor work, but a school is the worst place to do it.

Not only are they jam packed with children, who are total slobs by nature.

But they have abominable climate control, and are either way too hot... for 8 months of the year, or super cold for two other months.

I think I need to update my resume and start putting out feelers for non school janitor work.

In other news, I did finally find a suitable transformer for the lights tonight, and bought it...

this one plugs in, which is a little inconvenient, but it does have it's own photo sensor, so it should be fine.

And it's 60 Watts, so it should be plenty robust enough to handle the six 3W lamps I've got.

Singing practice went well, on the drive home tonight.

After transposing it, I can now sing, NYC Gargoyles with relative ease.

And even though I did not transpose it, I really nailed, Never Rains tonight... now that there's enough space for full refrains, and it's been slowed down a touch.

Bed in the Suburbs, also went great!.. now that it's been lowered a bit, and I added space for all the verses, and restructured where the refrains come in.

Archeology, and, Clue Phone, were never problematic.

So that just leaves, Live it Fast, which I still need to restructure, and possibly lower a step.

And then, of course I have to piano roll the final two; Other Friends, and, Miss Fortune.

I also created a new TikTok account, called, "TwinCat Studio," tonight.

My idea is, I'll have the camera over my shoulder, and just record myself working with FL Studio in real time... and like talk a bit, as I go.

It could be a huge flop and get no followers.

But if I managed to get 2000 followers, I could do live streams of... that same thing.

It could be interesting... in the same way that it's interesting to watch a spider spin a web.

I'll give it a shot anyway.
