Trunk or Treat

67F and overcast today. My halloween candy arrived this morning, along with some cottage cheese. All I have to do is print up a sign for the door.
It continues to be gorgious outside, with all the fall colors, and the locust leaves continue to fall, like confetti...

The leaves are golder than they were yesterday, and as we can see in the photo, there's a bumper crop of pods waiting to drop in November.
November and locust pods have been synonymous in my mind since childhood, having grown up with this tree in the yard.
They are entirely useless, but it's still kinda neat when they collect on the roof and slide off in huge numbers, with a rumble you can hear from inside.
I suppose next spring I can rake them up and burn them in the pit!
My weekend plans are to get the storm sectionals back into the upstairs storm frames... correctly.
They're designed to fit in, in a certain way, but it's difficult to see what you're doing, and they're wood, so they jam.
I've got some lithium greese coming to help them slide into place easier.
I also want to remove the sashes from the studio north window.
It's got an aluminum storm/screen combo on the outside, but the corner tab for the sliding storm panel is busted. So new ones are coming tomorrow.
If I can repair that, then it buys me time to get glass into the upper sash, out on the work table on the porch.
I'm transferring the surviving glass pane from the old livingroom storm.
If I can do the whole transfer and glaze it into place, then it can cure over the week, and I'll get the sashes reinstalled next weekend.
Other than the windows, I hope to do some measuring and planning toward moving my computer desk and the good computer down here to the back room.
And maybe I should pay all the bills too, because November 1st will be on Wednesday.
Next weekend I'll also remove the webs from the bushes, but leave the orange lights, and replace the flaming bulbs with normal bulbs.
The jack-o-lanterns in the porch window will be replaced with... well I guess I need to buy a pumpkin or something... to do a thanksgiving display.
The kids were all in costumes today at school, and then they did Trunk or Treat in the parking lot from 5PM to 6:30.
There was a lot more garbage than usual in the classrooms because of classroom Halloween parties... and a TON of gold locust leaves to vacuum and sweep up in all the hallways.
It rained for a while tonight, but was done before I left.
Now it's pretty chilly out there.
Radio silence from Dylan today on all fronts.
Brian says he hasn't heard from him in two days, despite calling and texting him.
He doesn't want to be contacted... is my guess.
He's brooding.
Nothing is fair and nobody understands.
