61F and rainy today. We managed to get outside between rain showers this afternoon... Yvette, Snoop, Prowly, and I.

It's supposed to rain the next two days, so we got lucky with the event. It only rained on us Thursday night, which was fine.

But as of today, Natalie is going red!...

She started out yellow, and now she's an orange... just like the literature said, so I'm expecting her to get deep red before losing the leaves.

We'll have to see if it happens and how long it takes, but I'm happy to see my little oak sapling doing her thing, and I look forward to seeing this every fall going forward, and to acorns burning in the fire pit.

I ordered groceries last night, which are now on the table.

The garbage trucks came and emptied both the bins.

And I finally let D313 know that I can't accept the job at Odlaw.

Dylan sent a series of disjointed texts to Sheila yesterday.

Apparently he stayed all day at his girlfriends, saying they were waiting until the property manager left for the day, before moving out to stay with a friend.

The only reason you'd do that is if you were on the lease, and by saying, "they," it's not clear if Taylor's just helping him move out, of if they're both moving out.

And it's also not clear where the dad was through all of this.

Also he's talking to the finance manager of a car dealership, by the name of Humphry Bogart, who's going to take his totalled car as a trade in for a new Pathfinder.

He says he's going to drive back to Illinois in the pathfinder right away.

But supposedly he was unemployed and had missed payments on the totalled car, so it seems like that would be fantastical, to just trade it in, and drive away in a new one.

And again, we don't know if he's planning to drive Taylor back with him, but I'd assume it's the case, given what Michael, and Jason said about him wanting to save her.

This whole thing is happening in too fast of motion as well.

There's still no clear motivation for the dad to have just kicked him out while he happened to be here for his grandfather's funeral.

And now he's scrambling to drive back to Illinois only days after the event ended.

Clearly he's not in his right mind, and this all sounds like a lot of wishful thinking about the car.

But Dylan's not giving all the details, and he's certainly not consulting me about any of this.

I told him he could stay here if he had a car and a job, but that it would still take time to get things ready.

So I'm worried he's thinking he can just show up here in a car and sleep in the studio until we get the upstairs ready... which would be a nightmare... and worse, I'm worried he thinks he can move Taylor in here with him.

But it's probably the case that he can't make any moves as fast as he imagines.

I'm gonna have to get in touch with him over the weekend to get a better picture of what's really going on, and let him know where I stand.

Because he really can't be here at all until he's a lot further down the road to recovery... and that's a road he's not even on yet!

I don't have time to babysit a psychotic nephew.

Okay, that's where we're at for this afternoon.

Time to bring in the bins and put the groceries away.

Dylan texted me tonight saying he was awaiting final word on his car deal. Then he asked for Grampa's will, so he could frame it as artwork, but also asked if Grampa left him anything, and said he'd like one of Grampas old drawings too.

So, this felt like a transparent ploy to find out if Grampa had left him anything in his will, veiled by some interest in Grampa's childhood art... and the will itself only as artwork... like that's a thing.

I ran this by Colleen, Sheila, and Tim and...

Well, for starters he never got back to Sheila about uber money to get to his friend's house, so nobody knows where he is right now.

And Tim, who used to work at a car dealership said that it's likely the car dealer asked him if his grampa left him any money in the will... because Dylan doesn't have near enough of a down payment for a car.

His crashed car is proably worthless as a trade in, and he likely has a crap credit score and no reliable income.

And some sketchy dealers will get a guys hopes up... so that he'll go beg his family for the money, and sometimes it works.

But it's likely he's fucked and Sheila's worried he'll show up on her doorstep, because she's the closest to him.

So I worked out the beginnings of a plan with them... and the upshot was what I texted to Dylan at 1:30AM...

"I'm working on a plan over here to possibly get a cheep second car.

If so then you could use this car if you were staying here.

However my rule would be that it's only you here. No girlfriend.

The idea is you could stay here to get your head straight and get back on your feet.

But you would also need to be on meds or in therapy as prescribed by a professional.

This is an open ended offer. No need to say yes or no.

And it would all take time for me to prepare.

If you decline, I still would have a guest room, and a spare car for my own purposes."

Car Gurus sell tons of Toyotas with 170K miles for around six thousand.

I could easily put down 2000 on a credit card and drive away in one tomorrow... if I wasn't worried about my credit score and the home loan.

I was already thinking of moving downstairs.

So this all seems like a natural way to evolve... turning the upstairs into a guest suite, and having a second car for guests, or for me, if my car is in the shop.

A second car also makes it look like somebody else lives here, even if nobody does.

Dylan may just be the catalyst for all of this.

But for him, this would be a good deal, because he'd have a free room and a free ride, which would allow him to get a job, save his money, pay down his cards, get his head straight, and get back on his feet, and out into the world again.

So, we'll see where all this goes.
