Busy SUN, Actually

56F and overcast today! Absolutely perfect, dreamlike weather for mowing the lawn!
I was out there already this afternoon to finally cut off the low hanging branches from the trees along the back fence line... which I've had to duck under and fight with all year while mowing back there.
I was up on a ladder with a chainsaw to get the three big branches at their bases. And then I cut the branches up using the saw, the big clippers, and the little clippers.
And then I wheeled it all over to the hill to use as firewood and kindling.
I also made an instacart order earlier, so groceries are coming.
And right now I'm waiting on the coffeemaker, before I get out there to mow.
Jeese!.. can I sit down finally?
The grass was incredibly thick, because of all the rain lately, so I had the blades up pretty high to get through it.

I got the entire back yard, and north side yard before the batteries died in the dog yard.
A switch-out got me through the dog yard and the south side yard.
I didn't bother doing the front yard as it's not that tall yet... and it was already starting to get dark.

I did notice while I was back there that Natalie's just beginning to turn for the fall!
I feel like I want to keep the first fully red leaf that she drops, and preserve it somehow.
After the batteries were on their chargers, the basement was locked up, the mower was put away, and the shed locked up... it was time to walk Yvette.
Meanwhile the groceries had showed up on the front stoop.
But I couldn't grab them when we got back inside, because I still had to make a beer run.
It was fully dark by the time I was back from the beer run, and then I had to put the groceries away.
Now I'm finally sitting down, and have a little time to relax before the shave, shower, and laundry gets going.
But I did not sweat a DROP today!
I love it!
Five days to go now, before the big house cleaning initiative.
With the storm window project finally behind me, I've been thinking about two things;
- Finishing the current draft of house history this week.
- How I'll approach cleaning the entire house after that.
Volume One of the house history goes from 1857 to 1957... or, the marriage of Daniel & Ellen Donavan in 1857, to the marriage of Dad & Mom in 1957.
And I'm in the 1940s chapter right now, but I'm trying to incorporate information from the 1940s journal of my grandmother that turned up while Tim was here last February.
But it's conceivable I can get through the 1940's and 1950s this week, at night after work.
If so... I'm gonna print up, say, ten copies to give to siblings and some nephews and neices who may be interested... when they're all here for the reunion.
As for house cleaning...
Well, I have never cleaned this entire house before!
And I'm pretty sure nobody has ever cleaned the entire house... including the porch and the basement... in just one go, over four days by themself, before.
So, it's a tall order, and I'm thinking it's not wise to try and go one room at a time.
It's probably wiser to, say... start with just organizing and throwing out garbage... from top to bottom.
Then a cursory sweeping and vacuuming from top to bottom.
Then hit the bathrooms and the kitchens (there's a pseudo kitchenette upstairs).
Then I'll get into cursory dusting and detailing top to bottom... a quick clean of surfaces and objects.
Then it'd be a more thorough sweeping and vacuuming.
And it would just go like this... one wave at a time, top to bottom... until most of the house is presentable... and I put my final focus on the main areas like the kitchen, porch, and maybe Dad's room and the living room.
But I also do have quite a bit of weed that I never smoke, so... these four days of cleaning are probably the best time to actually be as stoned as I can get myself!
I picture being stoned, playing music, and just being all over the house doing these waves of tasks, with the back door open so that Yvette can escape to the dog yard every time she hears me fire up the vacuum cleaner again.
The washer and dryer are also gonna be put through their paces those four days, because I have a ton of rugs and bedding to wash.
