October Gets Rolling

82F and sunny this afternoon, and I'm just happy to have all the bills paid for another month.
I was out back with the pets by 11:30AM, and remembered that we ran out of moist food last night, so I checked my phone and, thankfully Amazon had delivered more.
It was sitting on the front stoop as we sat out in back! So that was a relief... because the first thing they want when we go inside, is their food.
But also while sitting out there I called Glasshopper about the missing pane of glass, and they said they'd cut a new piece right away.
So I brought the pets inside, got the food from the stoop, unboxed it, fed them, and then hopped in the car to go get my missing pane of glass.

Once home I put in the points, and then caulked the gaps around the edges.
So, finally, Window A has it's glass. And I'll be able to glaze it tomorrow morning.
Window B, sitting underneath it, should already be fully cured.
And Window A will have over four days to cure, itself.
I still need to do dynaflex around the fronts, but that'll go fast, and I won't need it to be dry before I put the windows in.
However, Amazon seems to never deliver anything anymore until Mondays, so there's no point in ordering the dynaflex. I'll have to go to Home Depot and get it myself on Saturday.
But, all of this means that I'll definitely be getting those storm windows installed this coming three day weekend! [knocks wood!]
In addition to the dynaflex on the front, I'm gonna have to throw a turnbuckle, top center, on both storm frames.
I'll also have to paint the glaze on the sash windows, and install the turnbuckles out there.
Then I'll have to clean the exterior of the sash glass, and the interior of the storm glass... before finally buckling the storms into place!
But it's all such a long way off, here on a Monday.
Other stuff I ordered was delivered as well. The diamond dust turns out to be a teeny tiny bag of the stuff, so it probably won't be of any use.
The air compressor for the car also arrived, as well as a second full-size, corded, light-up, jack-o-lantern, to sit next to the other one, in the porch window.
I'll use the two smaller battery powered ones elsewhere, but they don't have enough juice to run while I'm away at work every night, and I can't put them on a timer, so if I forget to turn them off when I get home... they'll die.
Lastly, magnetic hooks arrived. I'm gonna use them to hang my glow-in-the-dark skeleton on the side of the shed in the back yard...

There we go!

I've also got six of these... their eyes and mouths glow in the dark. The come with stakes to stand them up in the ground.
they'e going around the yard too, but I don't have time right now.
I suppose I could put two in the front and four in the back yard.
There's a bunch of other stuff I haven't put up yet.
Once I make it through this five day week, I'll have a three day weekend, and then a four day week, and then I'm off all the way until the 24th.
So this coming weekend will be about getting the storms installed, and then the following weekend will be four days of house cleaning and decorating, before the six day event!
As you saw above, it's back in the 80s today, and it'll stay that way tomorrow and Wednesday.
Finally on Thursday, it's only 75F, and then after that it's 60s and low 70s.
Can't see all the way out to the reunion yet, but it looks like it'll still be around 70F by day, and 50F by night, which would be perfect for having a fire out back.
A lot of stuff to prepare for and do in October, but like I said... this week's just gonna be the normal daily grind.
I'm stepping up my game at work, now that I got a raise and I know I'm seeing the school year through... taking the extra steps to make sure everything's clean & shiny.
3000 extra steps, to be specific. Since late last week, I'm now averaging 17,000 steps a night.
Meanwhile, Darnise bailed after three hours tonight.
I'm sure she got her area done decently in three hours. But... get your 20 hours!
How is it worth it to have a part time job, when you're not even getting your 20?
And how hard is it to get your 20? My god!
She got 18 last week. She only got 8 the week before.
Best she'll do this week, now... is 19.
I dunno, man!
I managed to order my Dynaflex Ultra to be delivered from Home Depot, without a delivery fee... I guess, because they had it in stock at the store?
I got dark gray.
That should blend in pretty well between the blue of the storm frames and the dark of the glass.
Should be here in a few days.
I then figured out how to change my Amazon delivery day to Saturday, rather than Monday.
To test it out, I ordered a cheep salt shaker, and indeed, it's coming on Saturday.
I figure I can put the diamond dust into the shaker and shake it on top of the refractory cement?
I also still have brick dust that I saved from when I cut the bricks last May.
I was thinking I might need it as a pigment if I couldn't get all the mortar splotches off the sides of the bricks.
But maybe if I mix that with the diamond dust, in the salt shaker... and shake it over the cement... it'll give it a hint of... coppery... glitter?
