69F and raining!.. and it's supposed to rain tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday. So it's a damn good thing I got the entire lawn mowed... cuz it's only gonna keep growing!

I was supposed to get up extra early and run out to sign that authorization with the lawyer, but... it didn't happen. I figured it might be better to start off the week by calling the contact at 313 HR that AJ texted about.

So I did that, but Lisa didn't pick up.

I left a message.

Last night I replaced the bulbs for the front stoop light, and the bulkhead light over the side door with fake flame bulbs I happened to have, from a few years ago... and they made the whole halloween scene look even cooler!

But I've been using a dusk to dawn bulb on the front porch so... to Amazon I went... to order a dusk to dawn socket!

I also ordered some timers, as all the ones I have are being used to make lamps go on and off in different rooms, for security.

And a third fake flame bulb for inside on the porch... but both porch lights are controlled by a hard wired photosensor.

And that stuff should come today.

Coming on Wednesday is epoxy appliance spray paint for the turnbuckles... white... along with a bag of synthetic diamond powder, to mix into the refractory cement for the top of the firepit, to make it glittery.

Yes, I am gonna do that, before the reunion.

12:43PM

I've been sitting on hold with glasshopper for three minutes and counting.

Why am I not getting anywhere on the phone today?

My 8 storm panes need to be 11 3/8ths, by 24 1/2.

...

Okay, done! My eight panes, of 1/8" glass, with tax, cost $130.00.

It's paid for. I just need to pick them up tomorrow.

So, that's $65.00 per storm.

I think with the extra trim, stain, and glazing compound... turnbuckles and epoxy spray paint... I'd say these windows are coming in around $135.00 per window.

That's for the storms, cleaning up the sash windows, and installing the turnbuckles, so I'd say it's all well worth it... especially if they last!

And I'm pretty sure they'll outlive me. The glaze should hold up for decades, so the only maintenance would be repainting every few years.

If I can just leave the old windows in place, that would make fixing up the living room a lot less hassle... way down the line when I get around to it.

Okay so the lawyer is 11 minutes away, on the west side. But I can hit Glasshopper on the way back tomorrow.

I should only be gone 30 minutes.

So if I get up early, and run straight out the door, I should be back to walk the pets by 11:30 at the latest [knocks wood].

So now all I need to do is get hold of Lisa from 313HR at some point today, and find out what the next step is on that front.

12:02AM

Okay, lead story tonight is that I talked to Lisa and made an appointment for onboarding, or what they call, intake, on Wednesday at 10AM.

It had to be 10AM, because she said it's gonna take 90 minutes.

What's gonna take 90 minutes exactly?.. I don't know. Is this orientation? Is there gonna be a physical? What about the fingerprinting?

No clue, but I'll find out on Wednesday.

I'm gonna try to get up just as early tomorrow, to sign the authorization and pick up the glass.

Tonight I took the flat tire out of my cargo hold and put it on the wheel holder, on the back of the van... to make room for the glass.

But the other headline from tonight is that Darnise came back!

Chantele called me at 5:10PM to let her in the front door!

So... not only did she call in, three days in a row, on her first week, but they let her come back, and she showed up ten minutes late!

This!.. after Chantele telling me nobody was allowed to call in until October!

So, I went back to vacuuming upstairs and thought, fuck it!.. these idiots are not getting two weeks notice out of me!

I've made up my mind that my last day will be Friday, October 6th.

That's a week from this Friday. And I plan to tell them on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, I'm telling D313, that I cannot start until Monday, October 30th.

This will give me the whole week before the reunion, to clean the house, and prepare.

And it will give the the whole week after the reunion to decompress and tie up all the loose ends that I can, before doing the whole 90-day probationary period, all over again!

And after everything that's happened since August of 2022, when Dad first started trying to die on me... I feel like I could use three weeks to just chill a little bit.

In other news, I got the Credit One card I'd been waiting for, today in the mail. I thought it was just another Visa card, but it's actually American Express!

So I'm gonna activate that tomorrow and charge something on it.

And then lastly, the timers, flame bulbs, and dusk to dawn sockets arrived today while I was at work.

1:34AM

Okay, I just got the timers all going!

The dusk to dawn socket for the front porch worked... turned on, because it's dark. So we'll see if it's off in the morning.

I needed three timers, not just two, so I snagged the one from Dad's room.

I set them all to turn on at 6:30PM, and turn off at 7:30AM. I then set all their times to 1:30AM, and waited until 1:30AM to install them... running around from outside the porch, to inside, and then upstairs.

Two turn on the bush lights. One turns on the big jack-o-lantern in the porch window.

The two smaller jack-o-lanterns are battery powered, so I have to just turn them on before I go to work, and off when I come home, manually.

Hopefully the're all off in the morning and back on when I get home tomorrow night.

If so, then they're just gonna stay on autopilot from now until Thanksgiving!

Garbage is also out, and a pizza is in the oven.

And with that, it's time to start winding on down so that I can be up extra early.
