Equinox

After 8 hours of solid sleep, I was out of bed at 11:10AM, and outside with the pets by 11:30. But despite the fact that it's the autumnal equinox, and we've already had over a week in the 60sF... it's going up to 77F today, and there are still 80sF in our future... into October.

As I sat out back with the pets, I got up several times to walk around the yard... first to gather up the hose... then to unlock the shed and get the mower out... then to open the hatch and get the batteries out of the basement... and then finally... I just started mowing.

I've raised up the platform so the mower doesn't have to work so hard, and the strategy is to just get small sections, on and off, throughout the day, between working on the storms.

I'm sweating in the back room right now, and just got off the phone with Ace.

They don't have any 1/2" square dowel, so I'll have to go back to Home Depot.

1:54AM

I got out onto the porch and scored out my lines for the bezels on the back of both storm frames, and then measured and cut the six horozontal lengths of 1/2"SQ dowel for the two, and carefully nailed them into place.

After that point, I needed more dowel.

But before I left to get it, I went out to do another twenty minutes of mowing in the back yard.

Then I made the ass-long journey to Home Depot for it, and grabbed some stain and brushes while I was there... putting it all on my new, Discover IT card... to let the FICO-verse know... that I was using this new available credit.

Back at home, by 4PM, it was time for a very long walk with Yvette, who kept us ambling around out there in the sunny September afternoon until 4:45PM.

Finally, back on the porch, I measured, cut, and nailed into place, the vertical bezel trim for Window A!..

Here's Window A, with full bezel to accomodate four panes of glass!

And then I measured and cut the vertical bezel trim for Window B... and before nailing that all in... because it was getting past 5:30... I went out to finish mowing.

I got the entire back yard, the side yards, and the dog yard today, all on one charge of the 100AH batteries.

All that's left to do is the front yard tomorrow.

This is Window B, with it's full, four pane bezel nailed in.

For both frames, I got every bezel piece down with five nails, and will add more later.

And then I sanded both frames front, sides, and back.

After that, I puttied the seams on the back of Window A, and then stained it...

Window A, with stain.

Almost a camoflage, on this OSB table... it blends in so well.

But it does look sensational off the table.

After that, I puttied and stained Window B.

And here, you can see B on the table, with A, standing in the background.

With the bezels and stain, they both just look SOO much more legit!

These are turning into real storm windows!

And this is a shot showing how the entire side porch has now become a window workshop, with an extra card table brought on deck to hold tools that the work table can't accomodate, and more materials and supplies on the floor.

As the two, embezled, and stained storm frames dried tonight, I sat in that gliding rocker on the phone with Colleen, Sheila, and Tim.

It was a very busy day from start to finish, but I hit my marks!

It's very late now, and I need to get to bed, again.

But I promise that Sunday will be as busy as today was... as will Monday, and Tuesday, and maybe the whole coming week!
