Frames Together

70F and cloudy this morning, with a slight chance of rain. I was sitting up in bed by 10:50, when the phone rang, and it was my lawyer.
He's just now sending off the quit claim to Colleen, and has the authorization papers ready for me to sign, so that he can talk to BMO on my behalf. He said I can come in to sign them anytime, whether he's there or not. So I'll go on Monday.
Meanwhile, I've gotten a couple letters from BMO, addressed to me and my dad... as if they still don't trust that he's actually dead.
I haven't opened them yet, but I will over the weekend, and drop them off with Tom on Monday as well.
So that whole thing is still unfolding in slow motion, as is the job with 313, who haven't contacted me at all this whole week.
After a few more sips of coffee here, I'm gonna get out on the porch and get the cross for Window B glued in.
Okay, sawing off the rod protrusions from Window A was a piece of cake!..

The hacksaw went right through them with no trouble, and I'll barely even have to sand these spots.
I then measured, marked, and drilled the cross and frame for Window B, and glued it all together, same as yesterday...

So B will dry overnight and be ready to go tomorrow.
But then I took A outside and popped it into it's window well and...

IT FITS!
With a few taps of a rubber mallet, I should be able to get these so snug that no caulk will be necessary around the edges.
The turnbuckles should be fine to keep them from ever popping out.
I made the decision last night, to go with four smaller panes per window, because, as I was out on the porch looking at Window A, on the table... I realized that even those smaller sections are still pretty huge!
So tomorrow, I'll probably have to run to Ace Hardware to get more 1/2" square dowel, becasue the bezels will be more involved than I originally planned.
I'm also gonna have to get that mallet and make sure both frames can fit all the way home, inside their wells, without any undue stress... and sand or plane the edges if necessary.
Then I'll get the bezels contructed and tacked into place... and then measure for my window panes.
I'll want the panes to have 1/8 inch clearance on all sides.
After measuring, it'll be sanding & wood putty, painting & staining.
And yes, I will stain the backs, now that I know I'm not gonna be using any glue or tape to hold the glass in place.
The glass will be ordered on Monday... and then I'll go sign that authorization.
And on Tuesday, I'll go get the glass.
Then perhaps, over Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I can get the panes situated with their points, and glazed in!
Because next weekend, I'll still have to clean up and paint the exterior of the sashes, and install my 8 turnbuckles... before the storms can finally be installed!
So... if everything goes my way, we're looking at Sunday, October 1st, as the day the storms go on!
And I'll have to make sure I don't forget to pay all my bills either!
The only other major concern for this weekend is that the grass is growing out of control with all the rain, and I'll probably only have Saturday to mow.
It's gonna take a while too... and I'm gonna go through several batteries, I'm sure.
So mowing and dog walking are gonna be the big time sinks that slow down my progress with the storms over Saturday and Sunday... as well as a run to Ace for more dowel.
But I'm always happy when it's Friday, and the weekend plans come into clear focus like this!
Especially when I've made a little progress over the week, like I did this week.
Ronnie was back tonight.
Darnise has been MIA for three days.
I'm assuming now that she either quit or was fired.
I was hoping to have the energy when I got home to start drawing lines for the bezels.
But I had a giant burrito delivered for lunch, and it destroyed me.
Never again!
