Routine Monday

64F and partly cloudy this afternoon. Perfect day to mow the lawn... now that I have to go back to work!
I had the thermostat in heating mode last night, because the lows went down into the 40sF, but now it's off again... as it had been all last week.

Got the new pencil sharpener intalled on the wall in the kitchen last night.
When I was growing up, there was always one in that spot.
This one feels cheep and flimsy compared to the ones from the olden days, but it works.
I'm sure I'll use it a lot over the years to come, because you always need one, working with wood, drywall, what have you.

The glazing compound also came today, along with points... small metal tabs used to hold glass panes in place.
This is what I'd be using today on the sash windows out front, if I had called in like I wanted to do.
And I'll use this for the storms too, obviously.
The frames are still in their clamps, and I'll keep them that way until at least tomorrow, to make sure the joints are good and solid.
The two long crossbars are still clamped together, to hopefully get the pronounced bow out of the one for, Window A.
It's gonna be tricky getting them connected into the frames, with the longer dowel rods.
I may actually use my pencil sharpener to get a bevel on the ends of those rods, to make it easier, driving them in, and lining things up.
I'll also probably need more 1/2 inch square dowel, if I go with eight smaller panes of glass.
No word this morning from D313.
Looks like i'll just go in like it's a normal day, without any dramatic two week's notice.
The reunion stuff begins on WED OCT 18... exactly one month from Today.
I should put in for those days off today, just in case I'm still at Cloud in a month.
If they try to deny it, the way they've banned call-ins... well, then it's next Monday that I put in the two week notice, so that my last day is FRI OCT 13.
(Gasp!) Uh oh!.. Friday the thirteenth?
I am sort of fearing a scenario where I leave Cloud, only for D313 to back out on the job offer, leaving me totally unemployed.
But... I'm sure that in reality, everything will work out [knocks wood].
I have completed one full year with GeoStaff now, so... nobody can take that away.
But what a hard won year this was!
The, Discover IT card was in the mailbox before I left today.
I activated it at work. Haven't used it, but it's active, so hopefully that $3000.00 in available credit appears on my report soon.
The new woman for the four hour area finally showed up today. Her name is Darnise.
Angelisa came over to train Darnise. Chantele had sent her. She called me and said she was coming over in person later on... but she never showed.
Darnise didn't know she needed an employee ID number to clock in.
We called Chantele to tell her, Darnise had gotten to Cloud at 5PM, but couldn't clock.
Chantele said she'd be over in person later to take care of it... but she never showed.
At my orientation a year ago, that employee ID number was given to me along with my badge, and the first thing I was told was... memorize the number, and until you do, don't lose this note card!
I was also trained by my supervisor... Tony. Not some random other employee.
So... the, internal customer service, as they call it, has definitely declined a lot since last year.
Supervisors are spread so thin they can't even get a new hire the information they need to clock in, much less train them.
And then, as if to punctuate this, later on in the evening, I got a butt-dial from Chantele.
I hung up and she butt-dialed me again... and this happend five times in a row!
Finally I just kept her on the line, and went to have a smoke, because hey!.. if I can hear what she's doing, I know she won't surprise me out there smoking!
I heard scrubbing and flushing sounds, as if she was cleaning a bathroom, and then after a while she was talking to somebody in the background.
Supervisors only clean bathrooms themselves if there's nobody else at all to do it.
Listening, as I smoked, I could almost understand her revolking call-ins.
Now that Tony's gone, and she's got his schools on top of her own... she'll collapse from exhaustion if anybody else calls in!
But it's like... read the handwriting, already!
I'm sure GeoStaff was a much nicer, much more functional corporation to work for back in the 1990s, or whenever she came on board.
But they've lost their way, Chantele!
ANYWAY... I did put in for the days in October, for whatever that was worth.
And I activated that card.
And it was a Monday.
Now, I've gotta do an InstaCart order for the morning... eat something... and go to bed.
