79F and sunny this afternoon. I haven't had to run either heating or cooling in here the past few days because of how low the lows get at night. I open everything up at night to cool the house down, and then it stays cool all day.

Gradually it does heat up, but it takes until 8 or 9PM to get above 70F inside, which is fine, because it's back down to 50F outside, so the cycle repeats.

I got my OSB off the car and onto the saw horses, but... that thing's a LOT heavier than the plywood for the hatch door was.

All the other lumber was brought in last night, so the first thing I'm gonna do is cut that OSB to a manageable size, and then go outside and measure my two window wells, top and bottom, left and right.

Then I'm gonna cut my boards and bring them up to to porch.

The lubricant came, and I sprayed it into all the pulleys and... oh my God!.. the hatch door opens and closes like BUTTER now!

I really didn't think it would make much of a difference, but it turned out to be the perfect solution!

The door closes smoothly and noiselessly with one hand... no wobbling! Opens just as nicely. Almost zero effort!.. feels like it's weightless!

So now I'm gonna call HD2.0 a resounding success!

It is now a definite improvement over 1.0, and I hope it lasts 20 years!

And with the door working so well, I threw it wide open, and brought the circular saw out around the front to the porch...

I cut the OSB to six feet long by three feet wide.

A perfect table top size for out here on the porch, and it will also fit well on top of the work table in the basement, when I don't need it out here.

I put my vise on the edge of it.

And now it's time to get out there and measure the window wells.

Okay, I measured the window wells, ran for smokes, cut the boards, took Yvette for a walk, and then make a Tiktok.

The left window is 27 3/4 inches by 54 1/4.

The right window is 27 3/4 inches by 54 3/16... or 1/16 shorter than the other window.

This is our first glimpse at what the storms will look like!

And we see that my OSB table top is also a very nice size for working on this project over the coming month.
