Sunny and 73F when we first got outside this morning, though now it's gone up to 77F, but that'll be it, today. It'll be 61F by the time I get home tonight.

I flipped the plywood over and gave the underside a final coat of preservative, to replace whatever got sanded off around the edges of the epoxy patches.

That 1X4 is going on the end as a kind of footer to prevent the plywood from making direct ground contact... and it's now getting it's 2nd coat of preservative.

I still need to order a center pull handle, which will bolt down through that 1X4... I guess I'll have to countersink the washers and nuts on the underside. That's gonna be a bit of a trick.

Maybe I can use sex bolts, instead.

Okay, just made an Amazon order...

This will be the pull handle for the hatch door. They don't sell them singly, so I'll have a spare, I guess.

I like the clover looking ends on this... suitably victorian.

Only the two furthest end holes will bolt through. I'll just drive wood screws through the other four holes.

The handle part is 7 inches long, so it should be easy to grab.

I also ordered the turnbuckles that will hold on my living room storm windows outside...

Amazon calls them turnbuttons. My dad always called them turnbuckles.

This is an example of leaning into the 19th century vintage of the house.

I'm going to spray paint these white, to match the siding and contrast the blue trim they'll be affixed to... so they'll stand out... and I'm doing four per window.

So, rather than apologizing for having old windows, and shamefully throwing on a couple turnbuckles I hope nobody will notice... like those before me did... I'm gonna proudly feature them as the historically accurate tech they are for this house.

This is my updated idea for the storm windows.

On the left, the view from inside the livingroom.

On the right, view from outside the house, with turnbuckles, and window glazing.

The original storms did have this cross pattern, rather than a single horzontal bar in the center.

In this design, the 1X3s frame includes these cross bars, but on the inside, it's just one big sheet of plywood that glues against the inside edge, and the cross bars.

I'd need some good glue that's also transparent.

I'd also put window glazing around the outside four lights, and the inside edges of the pane... which would hopefully help to keep that pane in place and safe from the elements.

12:20AM

Well, the amp came today while I was at work!..

Just a little 20-watter, but it's a Fender, and it's nice to see it in the studio, along with the guitars and microphones!

Makes the place feel more complete!

Good Monday at work! I knocked out every last thing by 10:30PM... just shy of 14,000 steps... and had an hour to chill and relax.

Angelisa... that's her name, showed up again tonight, right at 11:25PM... just as I was clocking out.

She said she'll be coming by until Chantele is back from vacation... whenever that is.

On my way out the front door today, I took a glance at the window wells and realized that my plan... the one I just drew up before I left... can't work!.. because it would be too thick!

Two boards together is 1.5" thick, and it looks like I only have the depth in the window wells for a storm that's 3/4" or so... which is the thickness of just one board.

But I think I know how to get around it... and I think it's also time to start 3D modeling this project... tonight... after I'm done with this entry.

So that's where we're at on the final Monday of August...

Hatch door project is halfway done.

Equipment keeps rolling in for the studio.

And 3D modeling for the next project is about to get underway.

Thursday will be a BLUE MOON!... we had a full moon on August 1st, and we'll have another on August 31st!

Then September begins the next day.
