Rainy Registration
Thursday, February 9th, 2023 11:58 pmIt rained today, from start to finish. Gloomy sky, and a nonstop drizzle from early morning to late night.
I was up by 10:30AM, which has become the norm on weekdays, but left straight away, with my coffee, without walking the dog... to get my emissions and registration taken care of.
Didn't even have to feel guilty about not walking Yvette, because she hates the rain, and was sound alseep in the living room when I left.
Turns out that the 9th of the month IS, well early enough, to go to the emissions testing center!
Because there was no line at all, and I sailed straight in!
The RAV4 passed the test, and I paid for my new registration sticker in the office.
I was back home in under an hour, and now my car is totally legal for another year!
------------{=0=}------------
I spent some time upstairs looking into getting Snoop & Prowly fixed. I first checked with Care Credit... a line of credit that pays for animal care.
Care Credit is weirdly sketchy, in that, for some reason they have my address as being an apartment I lived in back in 1999, and I can't find any way to change that!.. so I don't have a physical card.
But I did download their app, and have a valid card number, expiration date, and security code... along with a $3000.00 credit limit!.. and currently owe them nothing!
But they are not taken by all veteranarians, so I had to do some calling around to vets on their list, to find out what getting the cats fixed would entail and... it's not gonna be easy!
Essentially, all places need me to take them in first for a pre-screening to get blood work and shots... and then schedule for the surgery... which requires me to bring them in at 7AM on a weekday, and then just wait for... whenever they get around to it... and pick them up afterward.
Now... wrangling both cats to the vet just for screenings at a specific time of the day is difficult enough.
But then doing that a second time... for a 7AM appointment... after somehow preventing them from eating food or drinking water the night before... and then waiting all day to get them back home... is another whole level of difficult!
The best I could do today is just go on Amazon and purchase a second cat carrier... because they're both so big now, that they can no longer fit into the one cat carrier that I have... as they did when they were kittens, last August.
My idea is that, whenever I take them in for anything, they need to go together, because I'm gonna be working full time, SECOND SHIFT, with limited PTO!
So, I'm not gonna have days and days to fuck around taking in one cat for his screening... then the other cat for his screening... then one cat for his surgery... then the other cat for his surgery.
Even working part time, with Tim around to help out... that's a ridiculously tall order!
Especially since we only have my one vehicle.
And it's not even a question of money! Even if I was willing to pay out of pocket, instead of using Care Credit... there are only so many animal hospitals in a reasonable distance from home!
As I write this, I really don't know what I'm gonna do!
------------{=0=}------------
Work was work, and back at home, I stayed up too late BSing with Tim in the kitchen!
Late enough that nothing's getting done before work tomorrow.
Friday is just gonna be... Friday.
City Hall's gonna have to wait until Monday.
--<>--
His cabinet handles were supposed to arrive today, but were delayed, and won't get here until tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I am also expecting some Amazon deliveries tomorrow and on Saturday... also having to do with the kitchen.
A nicer clock, some decorative mugs, and hooks to hang the mugs from.
The hooks and mugs will be part of the display shelves that I took down to the basement shop a couple weeks ago, when we started painting.
I'm gonna clean them up, repaint them, and mount them back in their original location in the kitchen, this weekend... along with the newer, nicer clock, and Tim's new cabinet handles.
But the plan is also to do a grocery run on Saturday, and... get the oil and trans fluid changed in the RAV4.
If we can get that all done over the weekend... then City Hall will be on Monday.
--<>--
But City Hall will drag their feet the rest of the week, even after the paperwork is perfected and... there will be other things to tackle next week while we're waiting for that City Transfer Stamp!
The cats, the dog, and Dad's empty bank accounts!.. that have to be closed, before anything else tries to hit them... with all auto-deducting bills being redirected to my main bank account instead.
And that stuff is plenty to deal with for the next TWO weeks!
So... the struggle to get square, in the aftermath of Dad's death, continues!
But... let Friday... just be a Friday.
