77F and overcast out there, with a chance of rain.

Cezar's two-week vacation continues on through this weekend, so tomorrow I'll be back at PV for building checks again.

With the car now emptied out, I guess I'll take advantage of the opportunity to vacuum it out and do a bit more cleaning of the interior.

I'll be heading over to Studio C in about 50 minutes to sing, Miss Fortune.

Another song with an F#5 to hit!.. this time only once, in the final verse.

It's not worth transposing the whole song down just for the one note, so I'm gonna have to torture through it.

There are also some higher pitched, whoas, to scream at the end.

It like, "my little star, you gone too FAR!<----(F#5) miss fortune's gonna find me soon WHOA! miss fortune's gonna find me soon WHOA! WHOA!.."

And this is the ablum's big closing number, so I've gotta nail it!

2:43PM

The backpack is packed, and I'm ready to go! The walk takes a little under ten minutes, so I'll leave at 2:50.

5:27PM

Okay!.. that turned out to be a difficult session, but not for the reasons I thought!

The F#5 and the whoas weren't too much trouble.

But the verses were!

In every second verse line, the syllables go like, "lo HI lo, lo-lo HI lo lo, HI lo lo, HI lo lo, lo lo looo looo."

And that jump from low to high is an octive.

So, even though the HI is not super high, it's the jumping up and down an octave that required a lot more control than I was prepared for when I got there!

So... set up took a while, and then with the AC running I was doing the first practice vocals and they took forever, because I was grappling with these challenges I hadn't foreseen, and trying to work out my strategy for getting through this song.

This is just a pitfall of not being able to practice.

So, I finally got a decent first full take by breaking it up into three tracks, one for the easy verse lines, one for the tricky verse lines, and one for the high F#5s and the whoas.

Basically the same strategy as last week, and after I got through a full take I'd mix/render the three tracks into one.

At any rate, by 3:50PM, I'd only gotten two takes done, and the first had the AC running beneath it.

I decided to take a smoke break outside, to regroup, and resolved to get at least four more done in the second hour... one take every 15 minutes.

And I did get back to it right at 4PM.

But I only got three more full takes down, because each one took roughly 20 minutes!

So, by the end of the session, scrambling to pack my gear in the final two minutes, I only had five full takes!

These were, curated takes, however... meaning I kept doing each line over until I got one that was fairly well executed.

So I think?.. the perfect take is in there?.. but there could be a random phrase or two where none actually landed perfectly.

We'll see after it's comped, whether or not, Miss Fortune goes on the list for a re-sing, or a least a vocal patching.

After the session, crossing the bridge, I saw a white crane standing in the river, dipping it's head under the waves to snatch fish.

Hope it was a good omen!

I also saw two lovely pidgeons hanging out on the bridge's footer, and four ducks chilling on the island shore.

I stopped at Hoof + Horn to get a labradorite crystal, and some candles.

I intend to make an amulet of the labradorite, to wear when doing divination... as it's supposed to help with that.

But that'll be next weekend's project, as we cross over into August, and mid-summer.

------------{=0=}------------

Next week will be, Archeology the song, and with that, all 13 songs will have gotten one full vocal treatment!

Re-sings, and harmonies will begin after that, through August and September.

Okay, time to get back to comping, Bed in the Suburbs!
