Okay, so I finally committed to my first noctournal cricket track for the 2022 playlist, on this Labor Day weekend, and I have entitled it, Moonrise as it's following right after, Dusk 22.

Over the first minute, as it fades in, you can hear the orchestra literally tuning up... as it's a quick mash of six recordings I did in the back yard from late July, thorugh early August.

I already explained that, and what I was doing with this track in the previous entry, so I won't rehash it much further than that.

This was mastered in loudspeakers, and I have not actually heard the final result in headphones yet, so... I may decide it's abominable in headphones, but hopefully not.

From a main track bed... the wingtapper night of August 25th, which was a three hour recording... this ended up only being 35 minutes, and 50 seconds. But it is the best thirty five minutes of that evening... interlaced with some cross fades to the front yard field crickets over the half hour.

After all the careful and cautious EQ and noise reduction, and the cross fades to front yard B-roll... it was all mastered down to a stereo WAV, and...

I slowed the speed by one percent, and dropped the pitch by one percent.

By, "pitch," we're talking, musical pitch. Like transposing down from D to D Flat.

I slowed the speed... like running a tape or a record a bit slow... which does lower the pitch in the process.

But then after slowing it by one percent, I further dropped the pitch (without effecting the speed) by another percent.

So, tempo wise, it only slowed down a step, but pitch wise, it went down two steps.

I did it to bring the high end down a bit, so as not to be so harsh, and... to make it just the slightest bit more trippy... with the slower speed... because this is supposed to be for sleeping... dreaming... meditation... etc.

If this passes my stoned headphones test, then I'm gonna master the rest of the 2022 playlist the same way... with the EQ and noise tweaks, and the speed and pitch tweaks.

Together with Dusk 22 I'm not even at a full hour on this playlist.

But I felt like, the first couple tracks should be quicker... and the later tracks, after you're either asleep, or super stoned, can stretch out longer.

And I'll probably get more experimental with the cross fades to different locations, maybe switching between three, four, or even five... over the course of an hour!

I dunno!.. I'm just glad to have uploaded something tonight, and I do intend to press on with this... as I negotiate with all the other stuff the universe has been throwing at me... the kittens, Dad on the mend, the new job in limbo, and the new job when it's out of limbo...

This afternoon an old mulberry tree in the back of the back yard fell over!

Damn thing is at least sixty years old! All it's life it had been growing at, almost a 45 degree angle to the ground!

Half of it fell down back in 2002, leaving a huge gash in the trunk of the surviving half... which never recovered. It just slowly rotted away at the base, and today, on a windless day with no rain... it just gave in to gravity and tanked over!

But... can't call All State until Tuesday!... cuz, it's...

LABOR DAY MOTHERFUCKING WEEKEND! GREATEST WEEKEND OF THE AMERICAN YEAR!

I swear to God!.. between my job and Dad's prescriptions going into three-day limbo, and this tree falling over?.. Fucking Labor Day weekend is the closest thing we have to The Purge!

I'm sure the American death rate spikes over Labor Day weekend every year... because of how hard everything shuts down!

But, whatever!.. Moonrise was uploaded.

If we survive until Tuesday, we'll figure out the rest of 2022.
